Description Quite some time ago I came across a style of fantasy art based upon drawing figures within a circle like frame. This picture is my attempt at trying to carry that art form over into the rendering world.

Technically, this proved more difficult than I originally thought it would. This picture has not had any post work other than to reduce the image size. The circular frame is a custom model I created. The "background" is actually a wall set to a white color with the ambient lighting also set to maximum white. This creates the white backdrop while allowing objects to be rendered behind the circular opening.

This all aside, I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out.

I've seen this style before, but the artists admited to whiting out the background...funny, I never thought of doing it in the prog. Anyway, this is excellent! I may have to try this style. I use Bryce & Poser for things like this, what Prog's. did you use, if I may ask.

The programs used were Poser (of course!), 3DStudio Max 5 (for the ring/wall), Poseray, Povray, and some custom code I made to generate the lighting. Phew! Who would have thought art could be so involved...?

Dang! You could have shortened the time frame by carving it out of stone...with a straw. LOL

Oh wow, that came out very very wonderfully. I'd say you were quite successful in bringing that style of art into the 3D/Digital world of art. It's also very pretty and definately a work of fantasy. I really like all the textures you used too. Great job!
