Description Hello! I am alive! If you don't know who I am since the time you added me to friends, well.. I'll have you know that I haven't been posting frequently.

Yes, this is from a photo. A beautiful stock photo here: [link] from

I like working from photos, I'm sorry! I just can't get people to pose for me for four+ hours!! I haven't worked too much on the background, but this is going into my portfolio as is.

I would like to further tighten the background, but, eh, I was told to loosen up, so I'm doing that (an excuse for laziness, yes). I'm happy with this, even if I didn't have to think about the composition or anything because it was already provided to me by such an excellent photographer. )

Inspiration for title? Not really sure. I noticed the things in the background and thought they were cool.

I don't have many in progress shots, mainly because I don't really work well on layers. At most I typically have three layers - one for lines, one for flood fill (if I choose), one for overall color. Also, I always forget to save in progress crap. T_T But if you're interested:

sorry for the poor handwriting.

Painter 9
This is the original size omfg!
time?? between three and seven hours (I lose track)

UNRELATED BUT EQUALLY IMPORTANT: Is there any way to disable automatic smilies? D:

Hey there.
I love this. The obvious digi-brush strokes add a lot to the piece that meticulously reproduced digital paintings don't have. You also did a good job of altering the pose slightly to make the image more appealing. I just suggested it as a Daily Deviation and built a pretty solid case for it (I think, anyway)

Good work, if all goes through you'll have yourself a DD soon

Keep it up.

Ah, we'll forgive your infrequent DA posts if they turn out this good. Very nice rhythm in your brushstrokes, and control when abstracting the the backround objects that are out of focus. Truely love the light interaction on the shadow side of this blouse with the flesh putting the pink cast on the fabric. Blahblah, short:Go on girl! : - )

Good luck with Ringling, great choice!

Gorgeous! Instant favorite here.

There's nothing wrong with working from photo ref, because good models are expensive. It really is hard to sit still for that long. Or stand, ugh.

You're so great with Painter -and it's with the oils!-. T__T

I like the strokes of your brushes in the colours, I really love how un-blended oils look like and you used that very well in that picture. I love it <3

Awesome x3 Good luck to you! I'm trying to get in for illustration, and there aren't a lot of colleges that have that major u__u Ah well, I'll work something out.

Really? There are tons of colleges (art colleges, at least) that offer illustration. RISD, Ringling, SCAD, SVA, and lots more. But maybe you mean a non-art college.. yeah, that might be a little harder. T_T Good luck!

unrelated but equaly important: i think if you go to settings there's a button to disable smilies, i'm not sure where at though, poke around, you might find it...

Great painterly brush technique. I'm always amazed when people can make their work so believable while still leaving the brush strokes so loose and obvious. Excellent.
