vocaloid is a vocal synthesizing software [like fruity loops only for vocals] by yamaha
they have japanese versions and of course, they have their own mascots ;3 so that's what we are.
it's a big hit in japan, but only really because of the mass amounts of fan-art covering EVERY anime so it's seen pretty much everywhere
