As he always does, Sparx protested that the mission was too dangerous but Ratchet explained he already had an idea for him. Ratchet decided that because of sparx's size there was no way he would be able to fight on the battlefield. Sparx's glow would also give him away on stealth missions, so Ratchet gave him the role of eyes in the sky. Sparx's helmet has a special heads up display and communication system. The gauntlets have 2 functions, one to laser paint targets and a venomous dart gun, not toxic enough to kill but enough to daze and confuse enemies. The targeting system in his HUD assists with his aim.
