A Labor of LoveSeaman stuck his head out the window, letting the wind whip back his large ears and stream across his silky fur. The dog took a deep sniff, breathing in the clear winter air. He scented the great evergreens that perfumed the foothills and the mountains beyond. Underneath the exhaust and asphalt he could smell rabbits, hidden under blankets of snow. His tail wagged, thumping against the truck's beige interior.
Pip peeked at him out of the side view mirror. The Newfoundland's pink tongue lolled out of on side of his mouth, turning his looks from dignified to downright goofy. She smiled and leaned back against the cloth seat and let the cruise control push the truck further along the mountain highway. The sun reflected rays of yellow and orange over the low-hanging morning clouds. They were the only car on the road, although she knew the rest of the stable's crew couldn't be much further ahead. They were hauling the horses up for a final Parade of Love event before the it officially close
