Description Happy belated new year, y'all. I hope 2019 is treating you well so far. My holidays were turbulent and most definitely tiring this year...
My grandmother had a big heart surgery out of town, and we spent pretty much every day going back and forth to take care of her.
Definitely a far cry from Vienna last Christmas X'D In any case, there was a lot of tension between me and my family due to all of us
being tired and worried, and I fought with them way too often to be healthy. My mental health issues resurfacing didn't help much either.
On Christmas day, I woke up with such a feeling of dread that I didn't enjoy any of it. The only time I actually felt happy and mirthful
instead of angry and sad was when I spent New Year's Eve with my boyfriend and away from all the drama. Until of course, I had to bid him
goodbye again when he went back to Italy. It was harder this time around... I really do need him more in my life >.<

Nonetheless, things are getting back to normal. Grandma left the hospital and is in rehab for now, but she'll soon be home with a big
improvement to her quality of life. My classes are starting again, which means I'm slowly slipping back into a routine and creating things.
And the appetite for art which I lost during the holidays is also returning, hugely in thanks to the massive bulk of Spider-Man content
released lately. Into The Spider-Verse was a masterpiece of a film and good GOD that soundtrack and those VISUALS.
Coincidentally, today I also finished the main campaign of the PS4 game. I cried. Have a happy swinging Miles because he is best boi and a literal angel.

I hope my mood will keep on improving from here on out. The Bucci gang series isn't over just yet, but I needed a break because Mista is taking a while
Last but not least, this year I actually made a resolution that I intent to stick to: to surround myself with people and things that make me happy. Wish me luck x

First of all: I agree with you about into the spiderverse and Miles is best boi!  and you did him justice!
second of all: I am so sorry love, about your family and the issues that could rise between all of you. it's never good when you argue with loved ones, and even harder when mental health issues kick in. I am glad you could see your boyfriend and he could bring you peace. you deserve to have more moments like these and spend time together. you need peace I am sending you all of my love and hope that it can soothe your mind a little bit.

Also: Happy New year 2019!

I definitely which you luck for the upcoming year.
At least artwise, this was a great start into the new year.

I've heard a lot of things about that movie and I've also read the first few Miles Morales Spiderman Comics
a few years ago and enjoyed them. Probably I'll watch the movie a few years from now.
I really wonder how you can keep up with all this stuff^^

Thank you my friend, hearing from you is always great
As for how I'm keeping up... I'll have you know that unless a piece of medium
is really, REALLY good, I have the attention span of a goldfish. Other than that,
I'm generally really late when it comes to introducing myself to new media and their
fanbases. This was an exception XD Ahh, the good old days when I used to keep up
with the One Piece manga before I forgot about it for like two years...

I've seen the first 10 or 20 episodes of One Piece (not even read it^^) and that's it,
so yeah, I get that problem.
Oh, right, I've started rereading the Little Prince yesterday, not quite up to date,
but since we discussed it some time ago and I recognized how much of it I forgot.

It still seems like you are part of quite a lot of fandoms, I'm curious
is there a longterm favourite for you?

Well, I'd say One Piece for sure because it greatly defined my teenage years
and has a special place in my heart still. Literally half of my gallery is dedicated to OP
I'd say I'm also a back-and-forth Marvel fan both comics and movie wise. I'm following
up on the series and cinematic universe, but there is also a massive library of unread
and totally non-pirated digital comics stashed somewhere in my computer

Well, I get the appreciation of One Piece, at least some parts of it.
There are some great design concepts and ideas and the narrative
seems to have a nice wildness to it, capturing quite well the sense of adventuring
(Only judging from the anime series though)
yet I must say it's not completely my cup of tea, I don't even know why exactly^^

As for marvel, I've enjoyed a few stories, I 'stumbled' upon once on the internet,
but I only have a handful of physical comics.
Funnily enough a collection of the new 'Howard the Duck' comics is amongst them,
I honestly enjoyed those very much^^

I'm wondering now,
have you ever read Neil Gaiman's 'Sandman'?

Truth be told, beneath all the adventure and happy-go-lucky nature on the surface,
OP actually tackles a lot of serious concepts like slavery, prejudice and hate crimes,
power abuse committed by governments, censorship through manhunting, and even
propaganda-promoted genocide. One could say Oda is projecting much about our own
world and its history, but usually he just leaves us to draw our own conclusions.
That's one of the reasons OP fascinates me so much

Now Marvel on the other hand, is a much bigger world to tackle. I've read a bunch of
stuff, but I think I've only just barely scratched the surface. The movies do a really
good job keeping me engaged and pushing me to dig deeper into the details~

No, I've only just recently gotten acquainted with Mr. Gaiman's work. I have a graphic
novel of The Graveyard Book, as well as his own twist on Norse mythology, but not much else.

Cuculum In reply to LonesomeBookworm [2019-02-23 11:25:30 +0000 UTC]

That honestly sounds very promising.
Sadly I do not really have the time to read anything anymore...
(and so the stack of things to read only grows^^)
But then I have to take my hat off to Oda,
that's arguably the most powerful thing a story can do,
making one think about more than just the story.

Well, as for Gaiman, I on the other hand only know the Sandman series so far
and while I can recommend it, I'm sure his other work must be worthwhile as well.

This is becoming a reoccurring theme I think. You post a drawing of god of war, I want to play god of war, I don't. You post a drawing of a character from berserk, I was going to read it, I haven't... where my ps4 at? I've got spiderman to play and watch now Really, it's a good thing though

Wonderful piece as always, the most signature thing I always love about all your drawings is the way you handle color. Totally distinguishes you from almost anyone else. You just have a really great way of 'organising' color (if that's the right word), it always creates a unique mood (maybe that's more what I'm trying to say).

Sorry about the holidays...  I'm glad things are bouncing back though, not just snowballing downhill. One of my parents was in pretty bad health not too long ago, and yup the entire family rallies up to help. It's tough, and arguments tend to happen a lot but at least the family does rise up to help
