A small-ish painting I've been working on the past couple weeks. I'm trying to figure out what my next painting will be so this acted as a warm-up while I figure out a more interesting concept to work with. I have a bunch of larger surfaces I want to paint on, but what would be worthy of gracing such a large canvas? Β

I just love the subtle textures and also how you painted the droplets, very very pretty. The flowers are so nicely stylised and the colours, so harmoniousΒ Β
I've been meaning to try water mixable oils for a while myself, how do you find it? One of my favourite artists does some amazing work with them and it's been tempting me to try them for ages Β

I use Winsor & Newton's water-mixable oil paint and they are sold at every art retailer here in the US. Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Blick, etc. Maybe you'd be able to get them online? I absolutely love it because it's oil paint but without the need for mineral spirits or turpentine- always hated that stuff!

OOh interesting, it's strange because I use a lot of Winsor Newton products...like their watercolours, papers, markers...but I never knew they had a water mixable oil paint too! Wow! Thank you so much for letting me know about them. I looked them up and they seem super lovely and affordable too. I shall get those. I wanted to get the Holbein Aqua Duos for the longest time but they're really expensiveΒ Β So this seems like the perfect water mixable oil paint to get! And you're very right, I don't particularly like working with spirits and stuff either..so the idea of a water mixable oil paint is genius!
