Thank you so much for allowing me to draw your excellent photograph!! I've always wanted to draw ballet shoes and your photograph was exactly what I had in mind.

It's always when I see artists like you that I realise how unskillful I am!
I know that's a bad thing to say - self criticism and stuff but it's just you're so fantastic at your realism. Your shading, your tonal value, your light?/, composition, even your backgrounds or lack of background is spot on. Your lines and work is so well aligned, so we'll detailed. You've seen every thing in the image and replicated it even better than photo realism but artistically drawn your portrait, anatomies with utmost elegance.

Amazing

Wow! Β Thank you so much for that! Β You are very kind!!!

Everyone starts out hating what they do ... it takes time (a LOT of time) and practice (a LOT of practice). Β Don't ever give up on yourself - you will get to where you LOVE what you do!!! Β

Can i ask?...Do you think about compozition alot when you draw(focal points, rythm, dynamics of the line)?

LonnyClouser In reply to SabinEduard [2014-05-13 22:15:40 +0000 UTC]

I don't, but I really should. Β I just go with what feels right to me at the time. Β Sometimes, like in the case of the original photograph, I don't have to worry about it because the photograph is exactly what I wanted to draw.

I'm starting to think about working on original work, rather than relying on the photograph, so I'm going to have to learn to take those things into account when I work on a drawing ... should be interesting.

Love that you left out the detail of the floor as this distracts from the primary subject, or I believe it would have here.

Thank you!! Me too - think it stems from always wishing I could have been a ballerina. I want to practice smooth gradations and try it again ... I want them to look more real. Also, I suddenly have this burning desire to draw feet in high heels - maybe a long buried fetish is coming out????

The lovely =LilaeaBluecoat was a ballet dancer She has some lovely drawings too.

Lol, foot fetish is allowed I've only drawn one thing with feet and heels and it was soooo much fun, I highly recommend

Thank you for sharing the link - her drawings are beautiful!!

I'm moving onto hands (or hand) for the time being - I will come back to heels when I find a photo that moves me (haha!).

I checked out your heel picture - it's awesome! I love the composition - so unexpected!!

Thank for having a look, I loved drawing it, it was fun!
