First off, thanks. And second, im not too sure. I go to school for this kind of thing so my ability and technique comes from those precious few teachers who really knew how to get their stuff across. But for DVD's I've heard tons of praise about the Gnomon Workshop series ( [link] ), though ive never looked at them myself for the 3D side of things. And recently i've been hearing more about Digital Tutors ( [link] ). They're kinda pricey so i'd say see if you can find a library with them and rent a few.

Very nice! How did you get that poly-less look? subdivision of the gods? Painstakingly tweaked subdivs? Nurbs-on-crack?!

Maybe Subdivisions of the Gods. I just poly modeled it as if it were to be smoothed then converted everything to subDs. Pre-conversion it was 73,000 tris. yeah, i don't do low poly.

I love creasing my subdivs, however mental ray can't interpret crease data correctly! Curses!

i didnt actually use the crease tool at all. theres just a lot of edge loops there
