Description "I'm trying to settle how I shall pay Hindley back. I don't care how long I wait, if I can only do it at last. I hope he will not die before I do!"

A scene from one of my favourite books, Wuthering Heights. This is the fourteen year old (or so) Heathcliff plotting revenge against Hindley, the owner of the house he lives in.
I'm re-reading it for the millionth time, and it's inspired me to doodle scenes.

That's a beautiful portrayal of that scene - i'm reading Wuthering Heights for the first time, and i'm completely taken by the character of Heathcliff. He's an anti-hero, and all the suffering, humilation and injustice he faced as a child...i think your picture captures that really well.

Yes, I know this is old, but I just had to comment!

I was reading Eclipse, and the guy named Edward (F.Y.I.) kept ranting on and on about this book. So I had to check it out!

And I am in like only in chapter 14 (shut up) but I really like it! I loved this part, too. Nice job!!

It was one of the choices for us to study this year but the class chose Wuthering Heights instead.

Hmm, never read the book but it sounds interesting As for the image it looks great, nice poses and such. Could use a little more consistant shadows and darker values too to give it a dramatic feeling. Other 'en that, awesome

loolaa In reply to iduck [2004-04-10 08:24:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks . I agree it needs alot more in the way of shadows and light from the fire. I might do a neater version one day.

Silly me, I thought this was gonna be a pic of that goofy cartoon cat.

But wow.... I'm impressed with this illustration! You did well setting the scene, the details, even the perspective angles on the fireplace and shading. I haven't read this book yet either, but it does sound interesting.

Thankyou. It's not bad for a doodle. I do things like this with the intention of creating a more detailed painting or drawing, but I never do. I loose interest too easily.

It's a great book. But you need spare time to read...
