Description
Rescued elements from an unfinished painting I was doing for the new years, so I'm asking you to take yourself back in time to January 1st 2012 to view this. Unfortunately doing so will not make it any more amusing (if it be at all) but at least then I will appear somewhat more timely than I, in fact am.Pencil sketch, painted in photoshop.

I just realized... the E shaped symbol on her leg bears a striking... and yes she is striking... resemblance to the insignia for engineering in Star Trek.... is that a Mayan symbol as well or was that a nod to the genius of Roddenberry?

I just get caught up on the tonal values in your skin rendering Dave. The back grounds great but I spent most time realizing I think you may do the best skin rendering of anyone Ive ever seen!!! Wow factor is off the charts brother!!

Can't help but notice how the color blue dominates the portrait.
(The head dress, halter top, and anklets.
This can only mean one thing: She is the ChiefΒ Sacrificial Priestess
to one of the major goddesses (Sun, Rain, or War!)
Blue has always been the traditional color of human sacrifice.
Do you remember Apocolypto?
She is the one who opens the chests of the chosen victims,
offering their hearts!

How long does it usually take you to finish a painting? (sorryΒ about all of the questions!)

Really depends on the image and the level of detail I'm going for... usually somewhere between a day and a week - though I once spent a month on a single painting. This particular image took 3-4 days if I remember correctly, including the calendar, which was particularly time consuming.

I attempted to draw that calendar stone once or twice in grade-school so can personally attest to the high skill and artistryΒ you put into this. (Please note I said I "attempted" to draw it!) Love the Mexica chick!
