A flying pig in a bee costume - from a sketch done a couple of years ago, (and before I had even heard of 'UP'!) based on a personal joke between my friend and I.Painted in photoshop and printed out as a birthday card (Happy Birthday my friend!)
EDIT: Finally got around to playing around with the print option here in dA and thought I'd try it on this image to see if its a worthwhile endeavour. The prints are a 1 to 1.5 ratio rather than the 1 to 2 ratio of the picture in the gallery.

wow man your work is amazing, its mind blowing, like they look surreal...just wanted to say...and one other thing i dont know if you take ideas from other people and sketch too, but have you thought of putting like a dark castle somewhere behind the pigbee as if it was leaving it behind ( just saying i think it would make for a good contrast) and im a newbie so dont go down hard on me if its a bad idea

Yeah, I have already saw them, I like a lot how you handle to alter from soft to hard areas, Dave. I recently bought an instructional book from Don Seegmiller, "Digital Character Painting using Photoshop CS3", since I think I had enough time studing for my own (I started to make digital paint a bit more than one year ago), and now I plan to study on direction. But since my city doesn't have any courses on the topic, I think books will be my teacher
Well, I was saying, I like the way you go from soft to hard edges. I saw in this book that this is one of the best ways to make a painting look appealing, since you make contrasts between surfaces without making the painting itself boring. I noticed, specially in your Cherry Bomb partnership with Franchesco!, that you do this a lot, and the example got right on my head, making me understand this point easier. Also, I love the passages from lights to shades on this one. You know, I have a lot to learn yet from painting, but I'm happy to be understanding a bit more why your painting is so good! I liked it from the first time I saw, but now I can get some insight of why it's so attracting!

I've uploaded a highrez and now the pigbee is available as a print through dA. I'll probably get myself a print too - I know someone who'd love it on their wall too!
