It's implied that Cortana was doing nano-adjustments to the armor as John was in stasis; she makes a slight comment about it at the beginning of the game, and John seems just as bewildered at the start.

Halo 2's armor was the most vivid between both halo 2 and 3, yet interestingly enough, Halo 2's storyline was the darkest one of the game series..From the start Humanities greatest fear had come true, The Covenant had found Earth, and there was seemingly no way to stop them... we were finished.

Ah interesting - haven't been lucky enough to play Halo 2 so haven't been sure. Do know the story was pretty dark and such through cut scenes.

It's weird how each permutation of the Master Chief has coincided with a milestone in my life. Halo 1 I was in primary school, Halo 2 I was in high school, Halo 3 I was in college, Halo 4 I'm an unemployed graduate

I don't get why chronologically they couldn't make it a 5 year gap instead of 4 just for the sake of the game releases. That would have been so awesome for the fans.
