1.) doodle of everybody's fav emotionally constipated old dads

Following getting lost in the Frozen North: and eventually finding their way back to Canterlot, Duke Blueblood asks General Pharynx to be his bodyguard permanently, for purely professional reasons. Pharynx hesitantly accepts, for purely professional reasons. Their relationship is awkward and nebulous and surprisingly passionate, though both are hell-bent on pretending it doesn't exist. Outside Blueblood's castle chambers, they are prince and royal guard, and nothing more. They most certainly don't hold lingering gazes and invent reasons to touch and get jealous when the other is approached by someone looking to flirt. No sir.

Strictly professional.

(one more note: Neither Blueblood or Pharynx is much for lovey-dovey talk or pet names, but sometimes, in quieter moments, Pharynx will call his partner "Blue", while Blueblood calls him "Red".)

2.) "Remember kid, if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a bullet!"

Smoky approximately 2 seconds later

got asked about the relationship between Smokescreen and his good ol' uncle Pharynx. They're pretty okay with each other. Back when Smokescreen wanted to be a royal guard, Pharynx took him under his wing and trained him personally. Smoky was eventually recruited for espionage instead, but he never forgets his uncle's training....not for lack of trying, mind you. Pharynx's increasingly insane tests of endurance and survival are forever seared into Smoky's brain. Still, Smoky's fond of his uncle in a mostly exasperated way, while Pharynx is pretty happy to finally have a blood relative that isn't a total pacifist pushover. They still spar together sometimes.

Pharynx is definitely that one weird uncle, probably collects knives and such, probably smells like tobacco and motor oil. Outside of his royal guard armor, his wardrobe probably consists of 90% leather. He used to be a big fan of going around looking for trouble (bar fights, etc), but has chilled out as he's gotten older. He'd argue otherwise, but he's got a pretty big soft spot for his now-adult daughter Ocellus, regularly bringing her packed lunches and complaining she doesn't eat/sleep/dress warm enough.

3.) Pharynx, Thorax, and Pharynx's latest assignment, babie Ocellus. This takes place in the past, before the Pandoraverse really begins. As Pharynx was feeling restless in the new era of changeling peace, Queen Chrysalis tasked him with raising her failed heir and hopefully salvaging the infant into a halfway-decent soldier. Pharynx failed pretty miserably, Ocellus' sheer nerdy goody-two-hooves sweetie pie energy was just too powerful for him to tame.

Pharynx initially meant to raise Ocellus as his little sibling (because that's what she technically is, they were born from the same Queen-Mother), buuuuut when she was learning to talk she started calling him Daddy and it was then that Pharynx realized this tiny creature was going to wrap him around her tiny finger like a paperclip, god damn it. Even though Ocellus is grown now (older than Smoky, even), she's still pretty much Pharynx's favorite person, and he's soft and patient with her in ways he isn't with anyone else (except perhaps Thorax).

I rewatched the first episode with Pharynx and Thorax, and one detail I found really cute was that Thorax gets pretty sassy/snarky around his big brother, in a way he doesn't with any other character. Iiiiii'm gonna headcanon this to mean that Thorax sasses his bruv because out of his entire hive, Pharynx is the first person he was ever 100% sure would never hurt him (y'know, besides his twerpy "why're you hitting yourself" thing), so Thorax is an absolute smug little shit to him sometimes, in the way that younger siblings can be.

Pharynx: You know I could snap your neck like a toothpick, right?

Thorax: oh yeah? gonna put down ur baby to punch me? gonna rumple the little blue blankie u bought her? gonna chance waking her up and making her cry? just to hit me? haha do it bitch
