Hayseed puffed up proudly, waving his hoof. "These here are our lil rugrats-Turnip Green, Chickadee, Ham Hock, Butterbean, and of course, our baby gal, Sweetpea!"

He hadn't pointed to indicate which child was which, and Zee felt a flicker of panic. "Um-"

The children swarmed, immediately breaching her personal space, each firing a rapid-fire barrage of questioning.

While Zee swung her head back and forth wildly, trying madly to attend to the children clamoring and pawing at her for attention, the oldest shot her a suspicious look.

"....Mama said baby brothers and sisters come from her tummy." He muttered. "I ain't seen you grow in there like Sweetpea did. I reckon you're lyin' about being our sister."

Zee latched onto him, desperate for an island to perch on amidst the chaos. "Oh, well actually, sweetie, I wouldn't have come from your mommy's belly." She said kindly. The boy did not look convinced. "See, my mother is Sapphire Shores. I live with her and my other mom, Coloratura. Your dad helped my mommies have me a long time ago....so because we have the same biological dad, but different moms, it actually makes me your half-sister." She finished awkwardly, not sure if she'd phrased herself well. "....Get it?"

"Landsakes, ain't nothin' half-way about it!" Hayseed crowed happily, suddenly, yet again startling Zee out of her skin. He lifted her into a sudden hug, coddling her helpless body as though she were a foal. "You're as whole a sister to them as you're as whole a daughter to me! My precious, darlin' baby girl! You're 110% authentic Turnip Truck blood-kinfolk! One of us, now, and forever!"

"Yaaaay!" The children bounced eagerly on their tiny hooves, happily echoing their father in a chant. "She's one of us! One of us, one of us, one of us!"
