Pandora sat comfortably in the center of Golden Oaks library, legs propped up on a stack of textbooks. The books were all assigned reading from her mother Twilight, each dusty tome more boring than the last. Pan held one in her hands, but carefully hidden between the pages was a colorful issue of Power Ponies. Pan read her comic book discreetly and happily, enjoying the warmth and comfort of the empty library that'd always been her home.

The front door suddenly creaked open. Pandora startled and slammed her book shut, hiding the comic. "H-hey, Mom!" She squeaked, voice just a little too high-pitched and cheerful. "I was just reading those books you left out for me! Starswirl's twenty-seventh spell on transmogrification is really something-"

A low, raspy voice called from the hall. "Starswirl's twenty-seventh spell discusses teacups, not transmogrification." Moondancer appeared before her, unimpressed. "If you're going to lie to your mother, do it competently, witch."

Pandora pouted, embarrassed. "Well, well." She said sourly. "The great and powerful Moondancer graces me with his presence! Should I kneel before you in awe, or will a simple curtsy do?"

Moondancer opened his mouth to fire a sarcastic response, but suddenly seemed to think better of it.

"That...won't be necessary." Moondancer coughed awkwardly. "I've just come to, er....talk."

Pandora blinked. "To me?"

Moondancer frowned at her. "Who else?"

"Well, it's just that you so rarely talk to me anymore, dearie. Normally you just try to, I dunno, blast me with a hex while proclaiming your innate magical superiority as a descendant of Starswirl the Bearde-"

"Hush." Moondancer said sternly. He took a deep breath. "No. No magic duel today."

"Good, because as funny as it was in our last duel, I really don't want to have to turn you into a little white mouse again. I mean sure, that was a technical victory to me, but I almost died at how cute you were! Golly, those teeny paws and chubby cheeks! You were so much nicer as a mouse. I'd have kept you in a fancy cage and named you Marshmallow-"

The tips of Moondancer's ears began to turn pink. "You would have done no such thing-"

Pan continued, now deliberately teasing. "And you could have been my pet."

Moondancer suddenly turned a rather fascinating shade of red. "A-absolutely not-" He fought to sputter an angry denial, but Pan had spotted his flushed cheeks and was grinning at him with a slyness he didn't like.

Well, well, Pan thought. I think someone LIKES the idea of being my pet. Why, Moony,...you kinky little-

"I wouldn't even need to magic you into a mouse again." Pan teased gently. "You could be my pet as you are right now. A very grumpy human pet, but I'm sure we could fix that with some obedience lessons, and then of course I'd pet you when you behave-"

She cackled at his reddening face, but she'd missed the change that'd began to come over her former friend. Something about Pandora's words sent an itching crawl down Moondancer's spine, igniting the fireball of confusing, wretched feelings he'd been having for Celestia knew how long now....feelings that he was trying to talk about, but the infuriating witch couldn't ever simply be silent-

He took a deep breath for patience. "Please. If you could act like an adult for just a few moments-"

"Act like an adult? Is this coming from someone who regularly challenges me to magic duels-y'know, childish contests where you obsess over defeating me?"

"That's not-"

Pan continued, smirking. "Although I think we both know the duels are just sad little bids to get my attention-"

"Pandora-"

"Because frankly, we both know you just can't get enough of me, dearie-"

"Pandora!" Moondancer finally snapped, clenching her arms in a tight grip and yanking her to him. "I am trying to talk to you! Why can't you ever be quiet, you damned, foul-mouthed succubus?!"

"Wha- Moony, what's your problem? I was just teasing-Wait, succubus?" She raised an eyebrow.

"You! You're my problem! Can't you see that you're driving me insane?!" He snarled, tightening his grip.

"Moondancer-"

"Oh, I could forgive some of it-it's your nature after all, your god-given talent is annoying a person to sin, but you....you are unbearably smug." Moondancer glowered. "You are a vile, detestable witch. You abuse magic for your own selfish gain. You work your way under my skin like nothing else can. Like a parasite."

"Oh, Moony, you flatterer." Pan batted her eyelashes at him, mocking.

"You're like a great, overgrown snake that chokes my mind-ruins my focus! I want you out of my head! To be around you is torture! You are torture! Gloating over me all the time, poisoning my thoughts with sugary thoughts of your face and....and eyes, and voice-!"

"What's wrong with my voice?" Pan blinked at him, feeling a little hurt.

"It's distracting!" Moondancer snapped. He still hadn't let her go. "The way you laugh after you best me in a duel, the way you stride through life with unwarranted pride, like...like some sort of warrior queen, the way your eyes light up when you master a new spell with ease, it leaves me breathless. You occupy my mind like no other. I cannot stand it!" He growled. "...It's distracting. You are a distraction."

Pandora watched this irate, strange little man pause to catch his breath, rage finally spent, and an odd fondness began to pulse in her chest. "You dumb, egotistical, emotionally constipated moon muffin." She said softly. Her fingers gently brushed a lock of hair from his face, and he sighed. "Do I drive you loony, Moony?"

Moondancer met her gaze with a halfhearted glare. "...To the very brink of madness."

"And I-what was it?" Pan began to smile. "I occupy your thoughts like no one else?"

"You even invade my dreams." Moondancer sighed again. "I have no peace from the thought of you, even in my sleep. I hear your voice, telling awful puns."

"And you completely detest me?" Pan teased. "Hate my face and voice and laugh? ...And my pretty hair?"

The anger had faded from Moondancer, and a rare, subdued playfulness was beginning to shine in his eyes-the sort he only seemed to reserve for her. "Especially your pretty hair. I loathe it entirely."

Gently, her arms went around his shoulders, and he looped his own around her waist. "Loathe is awfully close to another word I know that starts with 'L'". Pan hummed. "It can be easy to confuse the two-loathing with love, I mean. Which exactly...do you feel for me?"

"Loathing." Moondancer answered, just a little too quickly. He winced at his own answer, seeming to mull things over. "Ahem. I am...deeply, deeply...in loathing...with you, Pandora."

"That's a shame." Pan grinned down at him, so wide and luminous that Moondancer froze. "Because I think I love you, Marshmallow."

Yet again, Moondancer turned that rather lovely shade of crimson, and squeaked something incomprehensible-but when Pandora leaned down to kiss him, he tensed for only a moment, before gripping her tight and kissing her back, with years of repressed, blazing passion and lov-....ahem, loathing.
