I don't know much about Starro at all. All I know is he hypnotises and he's a starfish. That's good enough, right?

yeah i thought so to, but according to my research.... starro is one of the most inconsistent characters in the DCU because on one site it says he can absorb and project energy and is virtually invincible, and the the next he's very weak, and then there's one where he's not even a star fish he's a guy with an axe.

I will say, Starro looks pretty badass here. And that's not something I say often, so props to you there.

yes i know right. the actual DC characters are WAAAAAAAAAYYYY too inconsistent. that's why i like , , , , , , , , stories a lot better (all sexual perils aside, but of course since hypnoticon is hypnoticon so i'm gonna like those too) but at least they know how to be consistent.

the thing is, it's not so much that i find the heroines more compelling than the time-tested literary legends, more like that i find those legends flawed on so many levels.
i don't necessarily have a favorite heroine, i just find them to a bit more logical and creative
where as DC seems to be trying to turn their characters into invincible overpowered gods for essentially no good reason other than plot. now i know there are versions where that is not the case, always, i know of justice league unlimited, the Saturday cartoon, that was amazing because they characters weren't just plot devices especially superman. despite even being invincible, his power level didn't blow out all the other characters and not everything came down to him.
now with the new 52, fanbase, and everything else characters like Superman and Batman seem to be like these OP plot devices everyone relies on, and makes me wonder why there even is a justice league now since these too can pretty much do everything.

So what stories in particular do you find more logical and creative than the likes of No Man's Land and All-Star Superman? Any particular diamonds in the rough?

okay i haven't ready those, and if All-Star Superman is anything like it's movie, that was pretty good and i liked the version of Superman, because his OPness had a very serious drawback (in the fact that he was dying). my complaints mainly lie in the current version of DC Universe or where it seems to be going
now there's actually quite a few good reads from the heroine side 's Eagle and the Owl story, which is like the BvS movie except better in everyway because the conflict makes more sense, nothing is rushed, and there's no superhero that's just tacked on and out of place.
and has the Search i believe that's what it's called where Ultra-woman has to find her daughter who's been missing for about a year now, and then finds out that she's under the control of the alien race, the Alpha Hydrans, who are using these particular mind control devices placed on the victim's heads that when removed, kills the victim (or as far as i've seen.
so yeah shit gets as every bit as intense in their stories as the actual comics do.
