Description The Horn-Billed Ground Griffin is the eastern and jungle-dwelling relative of the Midnightmane Pummelhorn. This flightless griffin wanders through the dense forests of Eastern Arcadia in search of fruits, nuts, and other edibles.

This species of griffin leads a solitary lifestyle and only seeks out company during the mating season. At that point, males (which can be recognized via their colorful plumage and massive horn) perform a song consisting of deep, booming moans in order to attract females. Once a potential mate is found, the male then displays the vibrant green, blue, and purple feathers on the front part of its body, as well as the horn on its beak. The bigger the horn and the more vibrant the feathers, the more desirable the male.

After mating, the female leaves in order to lay her eggs and raise the young on her own. A typical clutch consists of 3-5 eggs. The eggs are incubated in a mound made up of rotting vegetation and take around 3 months to hatch. During this time the female keeps vigil over her eggs, leaving only for short periods of time in order to look for food. If any of the eggs survive the grueling 3 months of incubation, they will hatch into small, fluffy chicks that follow the mother around for about 2 years, learning how to survive on their own in the jungle.
