Description Australia is a land of unique life, and the Outback is a land of unique strategies to life. Water is scarce, and while many animals take it from the foods that they eat, the Blood Hunters go for a more direct route. As the name suggests, they directly drink the blood of their prey but they are not pure hemovores. Once they finish a kill the pack will tear open and eat the organs first, namely the heart, liver, lungs, and other areas rich in blood vessels before taking on the meatier muscle groups. Oddly enough, this makes killing the prey slightly more difficult since most dinosaur predators (if they can't make a direct kill or immobilization) will slice the prey until it dies of blood loss. Whatever bleeds out into the sand is almost as good as gone, but if desperate the Blood-hunters will even lap that up. Also unique to the species (and family, Austrobidentatidae) are its combination of small saber-teeth and beak, as well as its sleeping behavior. They are the only therapods to dig nests for themselves to sleep during the day. Pack territories not only include good hunting grounds, but soft, easy areas to dig.

Author's note: I had a weird dream about vampires, and I kept thinking about modern Australian dinosaurs. This was the result, but hey, vampire dinosaurs! What's not to like? Also, the eyes do have pupils, but I like to draw "glowing cat eyes."

Well for starters, there's no scientific name for blood, and venator wouldn't make sense for this kind of dinosaur. Good work by the way

Sanguine is the Latin word for blood, and its ancestral group was Neovenator.

Wasn't that the family group that spawned Austrolovenator? At least according to the Wikipedia gnomes...

Yeah, the article put it in like two or three orders of theropods, but truth be told I always think of the scientific name last and just slap together something last minute. "Venator! That sounds cool! I'll use it. I'm tired." That's usually my thought process towards the end of the night.

This is my naming process
1. Think and research something that will cope with what I created
2. Put it together and see if it sounds good
3. Give creature the name
additonal: for my OC's cases, give a background to back it up.

To be fair, having 'venator' in the name doesn't mean that two organisms are in the same family. Afrovenator, for instance, is a megalosaur.

Yeah I know, I did some last-minute research for "Australian monsters and vampires" when I was writing the name. Anyway thanks!
