Gar'Thok (also spelled as Gar'thok) is an  orc from Warcraft: The Frozen Throne who during the  Battle of Mount Hyjal guarded the orc base.

"Throm-Ka,  warrior. We haven't seen any signs of human activity, but the local quillboars have been getting bolder. There is an observatory nearby that helps us spot potential threats. You might want to check it out. But be warned, the quilboars roam the entire area. Gol'kosh! If only there was a way to root them out, we could end their threat once and for all!"

After  Thrall named Durotar as the new homeland of the orcs and began construction of  Orgrimmar, Gar'Thok as Nazgrel 's lieutenant was stationed in an outpost. When the  Mok'Nathal  Rexxar arrived, Gar'Thok informed him of the  quilboar problem they had. Rexxar quickly dealt with the problem but discovered that armed humans had gathered on the shores of Durotar. While Rexxar and his allies departed to inform  Thrall of the approaching humans, Gar'Thok remained behind. He was unfortunate enough to be present when the outpost was attacked by sailors from  Kul Tiras, who brutally slew his men.

In World of Warcraft, he is a  quest giver in  Razor Hill in  Durotar.Having survived the attack, he stayed in Razor Hill to instruct young members of the Horde in dealing with Durotar's problems - including the remnants of the Kul Tiran forces and, after the Cataclysm, the Northwatch army. When the  Darkspear Rebellion retook Razor Hill, they found Gar'Thok in a cage, having been imprisoned by the  Kor'kron because they did not like that he was still working with the Darkspear. After his release, he said that Hellscream tore the Horde apart. Gar'Thok was amongst the orcs who attended the first  Kosh'harg festival on Azeroth, which was held at Razor Hill.

Although his clan identity was never revealed, my fan idea is that he was an orphan orc with no clan identiry, until rescued by Grom Hellscream before Thrall came to power. Thankful to his saviors, he became a member of Grom's Warsongs. However as his childhood was away from the clan, he was noted for being more... reserved than his clansmen and more-or-less one with the clan's traditions and tactics (for which he was not best treated, but proved himself brave enough to remain next to Hellscream). During the Third War he joined his chieftain in their fight against demigod Cenarius. However when Hellscream and his orcs took demon blood (again) to defeat an enemy, Gar'thok was the only one fortunate to escape both orcs and vengeful night elves, before being forced into drinking Mannoroth's blood. He found Thrall and warned him about now-corrupted Warsong's current wherebouts, confirming the Prophet's words and what they were planning: they awaited Thrall, desiring to either killing or corrupting him to take over the Horde, once again under the control of the Burning Legion'.

After the Thirs War and Hellscream's redemption and death, Thrall proposed that Gar'thok became a new Warsong leader. However the orc refused, believing that he "was not the best example of Warsong to follow", a decision which in years he came to regret, especially after Grom's long lost son, Garrosh came to power and became a tyrant, ruining his clan's reputation, much like his father before him. Garrosh considered Gar'thok not a true Warsong for not being a born in the clan and his demeanor, calling him a "pathetic, little cry", so it was easier of him to imprison the warrior in the cage, when the orc  was still working with the Darkspear. After Garrosh's reign was over, out of shame, Gar'thok did not denied Gargok's own rise of power in the clan and later his niece, Gorgonna.
