Description

Note: this fan, fifth and final mission in "Geth Arc" would be unlocked only if the peace between quarians and geth was achieved.

After the mission on Rannoch, quarians came into a peace with geth. Unfortunately something unexpected happened. To geth's shock, Legion’s body disappeared from their possession. At the same time, one of the quarrian admirals – Xen (obsessed with enslaving machines), have disappeared. Despite the war still going on, Shepard and Tali wanted to investigate what exactly happened. Tali told the Commander that she knew how to find Legion’s body – before the battle for Rannoch, Legion gave Tali a transmitter to a tracking device in its body in case of its disappearance. This act also meant Legion’s ultimate trust towards Tali, something of which Tali did not realise until it’s death, which was one of her regrets.

Legion’s body showed that it was located on Haestrom, from where Tali was rescued in Mass Effect 2. By that time, Haestrom’s Sun became much more unstable star than before. Even ships located in its system were endangered by the Sun’s powerful radiation. Despite this however, Normandy’s squad managed to land on the planet. On its surface, the radiation was burning the surface to nearly ash. Despite this, they located Legion’s body in one of the ancient quarians’ facilities, long abandoned before the rise of geth. Before they ventured there, they would discover that there are enemy quarians: - Quarian Scientists with moderate shields and very low health and abilities:
-   Shield Boost,
-   Sabotage,
-   Defense Drone.

Shocked to the core, Tali would please Shepard to spare her people, as in their social community, a murder of another quarrian is “unthinkable”:
-   Paragon: accept Tali’s request, in which enemy quarians must be defeated from melee combat (a mission similiar to the one on Feros in Mass Effect).
-   Renegade: refuse Tali’s request, forcing Tali to fight the quarians to the death.

There Shepard and his squad battled geth and to their horror the Constructs (www.deviantart.com/lordamus/ar… ). During the mission they discovered through logs, that admiral Xen tried to use Constructs’ Reaper technology to control normal Geth. Other logs revealed also that the Sun’s instability was a result of Xen’s experiments with Dark Energy in order to control Geth, which instead affected Haestrom's star. What’s worst, when Xen discovered that Tali and other quarians were ordered to investigate this phenomenon, she lured a geth patrol to deal with researchers, so her base on a planet could not be discovered. Upon hearing those news, Tali was completely angered, but she showed no sign of it behind her mask. Shepard however noticed that something “cracked” in the quarian.

When Shepard reached the last room, they found Xen, who blamed the Commander and Tali for ruining their chance to “have means to never beg anyone for help”. Tali accused Xen of killing her friends on Haestrom. In her defense Xen would tell that geth would attack her regardless, the mad quarian only speeded the inevitable. However with so many failures, she finally achieved her goal of enslaving geth: she corrupted Legion’s kidnapped body with Reaper tech to the horror of Shepard and Tali, which unlike others, it could control many normal geth at the same time, the first of an army of future synthetic controllers.

Xen ordered Husk-Legion to kill her enemies, while she would watch its capabilities from a window. With the squad of mind-controlled geth, Husk Legion would have very high shields and armor. The monster's abilities include:
-   Assasination (one shot = instant death!),
-   Geth Shield Boost,
-   Combat Drone,
-   Geth Turret,
-  “Geth Hacking" – its most frightening ability. Much like Harbinger possessed collectors in Mass Effect 2, Husk-Legion would corrupt geth into new powerful forms with stronger shields and armor.

After a battle, Husk-Legion finally would have fallen, but not before thanking for freeing his “soul” from the torture. The squad ambushed Xen, who didn’t resist, as she surrendered herself into their custody. However to the terror of Shepard and other squadmate, silent Tali punched Xen in her helmet with enough strength to make a crack on it. She blamed Xen for every misfortune that happened to her on Haestrom, for corrupting their people, for nearly destroying their peace between quarians and geth and worst of all, for corrupting Legion to destroy what "he" achieved through a sacrifice.

It was clear that Tali, whose state was perhaps even worse than of Garrus and Liara in Mass Effect 2, intended to kill Xen, but not with “technology crap”, but by beating her down mercilessly. Shepard could in this moment:
-   Paragon: persuade Tali to stand down,
-   Renegade: encourage Tali to kill Xen.

However no matter what, Tali shouted spitefuly to the Commander: “Get x lost, Shepard!” Tali shouted at Shepard. In case of another squadmate:
-   Garrus: mentions that his lust for a revenge on dr. Saleon or Sidonis never gave him a peace, only a “momentary satisfaction”.
-   Ashley: comments that her desire for a vengeance on geth, who killed her people on Eden Prime never satisfied her on the long run.
-   Liara: mentions that her lust for the revenge on Shadow Broker took her 2 years of her life and never gave her a rest, despite Shadow Broker being a total monster.
-   Javik: tells Tali to never give up her hatred on those who wronged her and her people.
-   James/Kaidan: say nothing.

If Tali was encouraged, she killed Xen, while Shepard and another squadmate left her alone. If Tali stood down, she left Xen alive, but not before asking the Commander very venomously: “If that happened to your people, including a [love interest], would you act the same?” Tali asked and left the Commander before there could be any answer.

If Xen and her minions survived, they were arrested for their crimes with no "trial or debate" for them, becoming the worst cryminals in their people' history. Their facility was destroyed and their data was confiscated by the Alliance in order to find out about the constructs’ weaknesses. Geth also took bodies of their deceased, including Legion, to "make sure that they won't be ever disturbed".

On the Normandy, Shepard gets a message from Kal’Reegar (if he survived ME2), that he knew something was “fishy” about his mission on Haestrom, but never realised that one of admirals “assholes” was responsible for his team’s slaughter. At first he wished to be with Shepard and Tali back then on a mission, so he could witness Tali’s “treatment” of Xen. But then he realised in shame, that he was not a torturer, but soldier who proudly “plays fair and square with a rocket launcher”. In the end he ordered Shepard to take care of Tali, because the Commander and the rest of the Normandy were her true and only family left.

Moreover, Shepard is told by EDI, that Tali is in the Commander’s cabin. Shepard sees Tali sitting on the Commander’s bed. When looks at Shepard, she apologizes to the human for how she treated the Commander (especially if paragon), as she felt guilty as quickly as she finished yelling at her leader on a mission. Death of her friends haunted her for quite some time and when she discovered that it was done by another quarian, she was angered. However the sight of Legion turned into a monster made her murderously enraged.  There are 2 courses of what happens next:
-   No romance with Tali: Tali promises that what she did on Haestrom will not happen again.
    o   Renegade: Shepard says “Good.”,
o   Paragon: Shepard touches Tali’s shoulder and says “No, I understand.”.
-   Romance with Tali: Tali was sitting while looking at the photo of her unmasked. Before Shepard she tearfully apologizes to him, telling him about something which she was afraid most: that even with her people not standing between her and Shepard, her ties with them can still rift their relationship apart. That’s why she was afraid before a Suicide Mission, that her people will always deny a happiness Shepard always deserved:
o   Renegade: Shepard says “It’s alright to be angry, especially after what happened to Legion…”
o   Paragon: Shepard can hug her and she does it as well, while crying.

No matter what, the conversation ends with words…

“I just have enough of this war… all of this…” Tali said, while still sobbing.

“So am I, Tali. So am I…” Shepard said, no matter if renegade or paragon.
