Description
Accompanied by his squires Phobos (Roman: Pavor/Terror) and Deimos (Roman: Formido/Metus), the Olympian god Ares (Roman: Mars) presides over war and conflict. In this artwork, I included some weapons commonly associated with the god: Spear of Mars (appears on the astronomical symbol of the planet), Sword of Mars (associated with the historical Attila the Hun), and the Ancile (the mythical shield of Mars which served as the source of the Roman Empire's power.
