Description An art request for who wanted to have a Forerunner character that turned to the AHE and had a Hominid-style helmet. Character belongs to him. Sorry for taking the pace of a glacier on this, man, but that's why I agree to do these things for free.

Description: A rogue Forerunner Builder who, after his experiences in the Last Human-Forerunner War and learning of the truth of dread ancient secrets, defected to the side of the Hominid Dominion. Proving himself as a wandering ronin across many fields of battle and crafting himself a new helm modelled after that of the Hominid Legionnaires, the rogue Builder eventually found his escape alongside one of the fleets of Hominid and Loyalist San Shyuum forces who were operating under Contingency Order "11-02 Snow Forest Oni", fleeing the galaxy to escape the coming wrath of the Forerunners. Due to his background as a prominent officer in the Builder rate, Ashes knew the technologies of most frontline Forerunner systems inside and out, meaning that he was instrumental in navigating the 7854th Exodus battlefleet out of Forerunner patrols and into the unknown. Ashes would live out his adult life outside the galaxy his kind had come to dominate, and it was due to this separation which saved him from the galacticidal flash of transdimensional power caused by the Halo Array firing.

Certainly valid enough. I’m just used to doing only lineart and the outlines are the most-straightforward way I knew of to keep things from being too cluttered.

Indeed, you would be right about that. I’m not sure how the character’s creator handles it in his story, but until he gives any corrections on this, I would surmise that Ashes would have done something to gain if not the trust, then at least the respect of the Hominid forces which he would hope to work with. In my headcanon/AU timeline of the Last Human-Forerunner War, I imagined that there would be singular agents and rogue individuals who would fight the fight their own way, either due to some disagreement with their command but still being loyal enough to try and help, but far-more-likely they were separated from allied forces and they were the only survivors of their associated units, and they had to scavenge and survive alone on the battlefield whatever way they could. These individuals would be termed in what modern Reclaimer Humanity would refer to as ronin, wandering warriors who follow their own code and objectives. These ronin would be clad in all manners of mismatched gear and weaponry from their experiences of surviving, and this usually meant that the troops would be wearing parts of Forerunner armor taken from their kills.

The Forerunner armor could regenerate, to a degree, due to partially being made of Hardlight, and it would cover up any wounds which do not kill the user over time. Thus, when they see a being in Forerunner Builder armor with the helm design of a Human Legionnaire, they would account for the possibility that he was another of these ronin, one who had to discard his previous armor and somehow managed to get himself a suit fo Builder armor. It makes sense, as in terms of personal defense, the Forerunners had superior equipment to the AHE. SO someone having Forerunner armor wouldn’t immediately make them an enemy. What would make them an enemy is that if they go and attack or sneak up on Hominid Forces and help those of the Ecumene. When the Hominid patrols see Ashes tearing apart Forerunner armigers and slaying warrior-servants who are attacking him, they wouldn’t shoot first. I also think that as a Builder, Ashes would have access to some kind of advanced travel system, such as the pocket-Slipspace teleporters which Promethean Knight machines use for fasttravel. He could use this to show off to the Hominids that he is helping and on their side, but also to get away from suspicious troops aiming their transphasic rifles at his face.

Also, his behavior would at least prompt some AHE forces to try negotiating with him after he clears out a patrol of warriors and armigers that they were sent to dispatch. They would be naturally-suspicious that he was a Forerunner and maybe try to take him into custody for interrogation provided he does not escape via his (theoretical) teleporter. The Hominid would keep tabs on as many ronin as they can to make sure that these solitary warriors don’t accidentally contradict the operational goals of Hominid forces, and they would see the impressive list of enemy kills and friendly assists which Ashes would have done on the battlefield. They would likely know of his abilities, and send in elite troopers such as psychic troops or even a Nephos (the Oni hussar guys I draw sometimes) to negotiate. His knowledge of Forerunner technology and tactics due to being a Builder would doubtlessly be appreciated, and they wouldn’t kill him as long as he remained useful. The AHE are practical, resourceful people, they need to be after having the majority of their empire rendered irrecoverable and then scorched due to the Flood.

Hi! I'm the creator behind the character and his writer, and I thank you for your input! Also, the idea of him being ostracized by the Dominion is something I hadn't thought about! XD

Yeah, I'm as timely and efficient as the Imperium of Man's bureaucracy. I'm glad my design met your expectations, though. Also, do you plan on adding any more to his story? If so I'd appreciate the details so I can make the description as accurate as possible.

Ah yes, the Imperium. Slow as fuck is the understatement of a millennium.

Actually, yes, I do.

Thanks! It was quite interesting to draw him, and whenever I next hear from his creator, I'll ask for more information. I have another friend who had a Forerunner that swcreted away a battlestation full of AHE warships and equipment incase the Flood return and left it to be found by some nearby species so they could protect themselves when they are ready. There was even a fanfic I read way back involving an Ancient Human who disguised himself as a Forerunner to survive the war and later would spend his time trying to save special anomalous species from the Flood. Shame the fic has been dead from years, though.
My point with this is that yes, it would be really great to imagine all the possibilities of the era and what could have happened

Nice, your art is worth the wait, and every new piece shows your growing talent, I mean look at this piece, the lines are so crisp and clean, the shading is so distinct and you can feel the emotion. This makes me excited for the Naruto/Halo piece hope to see it's progress soon, it's going to be awesome.

Thank you for that, my friend. I'm glad you can see that I've gotten better when I can't notice. As for the Naruto images, I'm about halfway done.
