Description So I likely won't post the episode images tonight but I will at least knock out the the review. How do I go about this episode... well it did about everything I was expecting it to do but not in the best way. so the summary is pretty much Kagura senses a large youma gate in a hot spring town so she invites everyone to stay at an inn till the youma and Fubuki make their move and in a unsurprising twist Fubuki is also there cause she apparently doesn't know where this gate is either. we'll get to that later. So, Yumi has her team stand down as she says she wants to talk to Fubuki first and in exchange the gessen girls get to go and play around more or less taking the tension out of the drama someone in this anime wanted to build up. a lot of what happens for the most part is filler in a bad way where we don't need it but they have it there. the nudity in here is just Yumi and Fubuki taking a bath together and randomly remembering they did this as kids too and here's the problem I have with this and it's been a problem since episode 4. the excuse they're using is because they were kids they have vague recollections but here's the thing to that in all those flashbacks it comes off as inconsistently convenient for them to only remember things at random points in their childhood. if they were 4 years old maybe 5 i can get that and even we excused they forgot what the other looked like there should be no reason to not remember the fact they knew each other cause Yumi lived with her grandfather all that time so there's really no excuse to end up having this connection from that far back cause aside from never once being mentioned she existed, there's all this stuff the anime tries to come off as a canon timeline point after shinovi, estival and PBS with even more inconsitency in claiming deep crimson happened even though shinovi versus more or less shows it was a soft reboot where that event hasn't happened and Kagura in PBS even stated she came from the original timeline the DS games were based on. I'm getting off track there but I get what they're doing with that but it's so freaking inconsistent with everything that's happened.

So then Fubuki talks about her mother declared as the strongest youma...I guess Shin isn't a thing here? I guess the Youma that according to the can shatter dimensions through out time and space and even destroyed the original senran kagura timeline isn't considered the strongest? Nah that's probably somehow kid level stuff. a Youma that says it's the strongest cause it's intelligent is the strongest. Okay sarcasm aside, Fubuki pretty much gives the whole "we can't be friends speech, we're from different worlds, and the you have your own justice" cliche you can pick whichever it's the same thing for this season. So, Asuke and Yumi tell Homura and Miyabi about Fubuki's situation and Homura isn't bothered by it cause she's already a rogue ninja so breaking rules is already her thing but Miyabi understandably enough doesn't care since her hatred of Youma is justified cause her mom was killed by Youma. actually why isn't this season more centered around Miyabi over Yumi since this has all the things that feel like are more for her character development than Yumi or Asuka? anyway Asuka sees her friends overheard most of the talk and pretty give the friendship speech in if this results in Asuka being kicked out of the school then they'll join her as rogue ninja and again like with the bath scene of Fubuki and Yumi, the intended message is obvious but the issue is that this pretty much means those 4 are throwing away their personal goals which require them to be "good" ninja to achieve them example Katsuragi can pretty much kiss her parents good bye, Ikaruga pretty much throwing away any chance she had to make things better in what her family can do for people, Hibari from the bit of info to her background will spend everyday hunted by her family cause her eyes are a big deal enough to not let her go till she pops up a baby that inherited those eyes too. and Yagyu honestly it could in any direction since she mostly has Hibari on the brain.

so after everyone is asleep Fubuki and Kagura fight it out as since there's no official power scaling in this series we're just given the vague notion of Fubuki and Kagura are somehow equal even though Kagura has been around for at least over a thousand years and returns every 100 years where even if they were equal Kagura's experiences more than outdo Fubuki since she's fought and seen nearly every kind of youma and ninja out there. especially if we're going with the idea she can somehow travel the multiverse. meanwhile Homura is still awake cause she feels like there's a part of Fubuki's tragic story that's missing cause if Fubuki's mom was the declared strongest Youma then why have her sealed over slaying her and more importantly who was the one that sealed her in the first place?

Yumi notices Kagura and Naraku were gone and goes looking for them then notices their fight up on the mountains and you know where this cliche is going. Yumi shows up as they clash ultimate attacks and Kagura throws the fight on purpose and loses since even Naraku noticed Kagura purposely missed a few chances to end the fight cause Kagura is gonna have Yumi deal with Fubuki cause of course that's the route the story is gonna take kinda making the whole why Asuka even needed to put herself through this whole ordeal in the first place pointless. and it ends with Fubuki finding the large Youma gate already even though she said she did not know where it was yet. Yeah we can attribute it to a mislead on purpose but this wasn't even handled that well to be that.

the next episode is a Yumi vs Fubuki rematch and Asuka ends up showing likely Homura how the sealing jutsu is affecting her body.

on the whole this episode had issues in terms of telling a story and it really used a lot of cliches to more or less push things along and because of the fact there's only 2 episodes left as of now they're trying to ham in a dramatic story they should've put a little more effort on through out the season and due to how we jumped from one thing to the other in this season it just comes off as bad directing and story writing. the things it gets right with the fan service and the brief moment of them having fun is good but it just doesn't hold up when the rest of the episode has all these narrative issues and has this much predictability to it where it wouldn't be a problem if they executed it better. on a technical level this episode would be a 2 and a half out of five but since i prefer to round them up as a whole number this gets a really low 3 out of 5 from me and just barely misses not only being a 2 but probably being stamped as what most would call a garbage episode. the reason for that is anyone who reviews this anime with no prior knowledge to the franchise are gonna name all these issues and more and even mention how some scenes either drag out or were essentially pointless while most who know of the series and review this anime while will give it some leeway but even that will have limits when the same mistakes happen so often every week. with 2 episodes left and depending on how they wanna do this is gonna be a gamble since this season more or less kept shooting itself in the foot and dug a hole for itself but doesn't feel like they're gonna be able to stand out in the end like it does in the game market.

LordCamelot2018, Asuka’s after effect in her chest starts to worsen after her use of the yoma sealing ninpou. Will she turn into a Yoma herself or she’ll die? I hope Asuka won’t turn into a Yoma in the next episode.

Just what I said before, they too pushing themselves to make a storyline like this. And the choosen of main character it make confused.

They too much put Yumi in every episode but they didn't want 'abandoned' Asuka too. So it's a dillema for them.

You right about Miyabi's mother who die because Youma. It should be focused on Miyabi not Yumi. Even if in the game Shinovi Versus, they should be put New Hebijo especially Miyabi after/before Deep Crimson happening (correct me if I'm wrong).

And what Fubuki said she didn't know about where's the gate, I think she just 'pretend' to Yumi and others. I'm dissappointed to Kagura, why she deliberately lost to Fubuki while she still have more power. Just let them fight, so make Fubuki almost exhausted. But yeah back to my opinion. Just let Yumi fight off, okay.

So that's why in every game adaptation when turn into anime is worst. From character, storyline, writting, pacing and everything is worst.

Maybe there are some game that good into the anine but most of them are worst. If they want to make the game adaptation turn into the anime it takes a long time because the game also keep going on and on.

Once again, it doesn’t really help out the fact that they’re trying to make a dramatic moment, but it comes off as somewhat forced. I get that in a 12 episode show, they have to make things fit in, but it doesn’t help when the pacing and writing aren’t consistent.
