Warhammer 40K - Imperial Guard - Astra Militarum

So...why not new chimera variants ?.... The base is the ubiquitous Chimera chassis, so we can have a simple open-topped transport. It's really useful for troops, keeping on board more than 12 soldiers (20 maybe ?). I'm thinking about the Catachan jungle Warriors in dense-forest warfare. From the open-top soldier can use heavy weapons and from cockpit the chimera can transport a mortar for mobile fire support. The transport is used in fast response fighting where the transported troops can be conscious of the battlefield before the disembark.

Another uses of the chimera chassis are about artillery and tanks-hunter purpose. There is also the famous basilisk as mobile artillery, but in this case the cannon is located in the front of the tank. So there is more place for the servant and ammunition (the tank can transport more shells), and at the same time the crew is more protected by the enemy fire (but note that the vehicle is still open topped). The stabilizers allow the tank to use bigger artillery cannons and use them with more accuracy.

The tanks-hunter is armed with a powerful concentrated laser cannon (some old technology used for mining hard minerals...). The tank is used in ambush to destroy enemies' tanks in a single shot. This tank is fast and handy to shoot on enemy and repositioning for another shot in different position along the front due its fragility. In fact, the tank is heavy armed with a giant laser cannon that need a open topped vehicle to being used, due the high vapors released by the refrigeration system of the cannon (also the cannon has a long setup for the first shot).
