Bio:
J. Jass Junior is the son of the legendary J. Jass himself, the Guitar Saint of the early century. Despite having such a famous name, life was not easy for the junior. Jass was plagued with bad luck from his early childhood up to his adult life. His skin pigment was unnatural to his species, all of his brothers and sisters were green but he was brown! His leg was inflicted with an unknown defect, causing him to limp, and he was ridiculed to the point he had to drop out of school.
Ever since his wife left him, Jass had nothing better to do other than to brood and frequent the bar. The only activity that kept him going was playing his guitar during the day. He managed to scrape by with the little cash he earned from his solos; however this was costing his guitar a great deal of damage from improper care and overuse. Jass did not seem to care; he played his guitar until it was rendered useless. When the instrument stopped functioning, the amphibian visited a nearby wooden bridge and tossed it down the valley. To his amusement, it felt like a glorious ritual, it felt right. After a few moments of relishing, Jass began to feel empty. He realized he just lost his best friend and his only source of income. He reflected upon the fact that this Guitar was given to him by his father, he was asked to take care of it. “What have I done?” he asked himself.
Jass thought he could live without his father’s treasure, but this proved to be more difficult than he had expected. He saw no point in trying; his life seemed meaningless without his guitar. Therefore, Jass made the decision to commit suicide. Suicide was not an easy option as it turned out. The frog was only reminded of his bad luck, seeing that the mercy of death was out of reach. His plans were foiled five times, and sadly, in the most ridiculous manner! Frustrated, Jass visited the bridge again on a stormy night. He thought it would be fitting to lay dead with his guitar in the deep chasm. When the frog stepped over the edge, fear did not strike him, only the feeling of freedom from his rotten life. Jass leaped over but fell short after 3 meters. “What in the hell!“, Jass looked back and saw he was hanging by his pants on the guitar’s headstock! This should have angered him, maybe amuse him some, but he realized this was a miracle. Jass recollected on his Father’s last words before he had left, “Son, this is my gift to you. You go on and take good care of it alright? This guitar is so precious to me; it is the very essence of me. I will always be there to protect you; so long you carry it with you. You carry my guitar, you carry my soul.” From that moment, Jass felt disappointed with himself. He wanted to redeem himself and his father. Before he could figure out an escape plan, he heard a voice. Jass looked over to see two strangers looming over the edge.
“Ya need help down there son?” an old turtle asked. He was accompanied by a rather strange looking chameleon.
“Nah, I’m ok! Thanks!” the frog’s cheeks were flushed with embarrassment.
“Ha! You’re as stubborn as your father! You look a lot like him too!” the turtle chuckled.
“Wait, what?! You know my father?”
“Course I do, he was my apprentice! We were good friends… too bad he committed suicide though. From the looks of it, you were headed to the same path, now that’s a damn shame.”
Jass struggled with his shame and pleaded to the turtle “I know and it was foolish of me! But… I want to be just like my father, as soon as I get myself out of this mess.”
“Well son, I have a proposal for you then…”
