Interesting points - specially for the supposed similarities between Capera and the manatees. By the way, what do you think about the idea that Caperea would be the last cetothere?

I have some mixed feelings on the Caperea-cetothere connection. It certainly fits with the molecular data and there are some intriguing cranial traits that seem unlikely to have converged, but there's still a considerable "morphological gulf". The study was also only concerned with skulls, and so far as I can tell, cetotheres don't have any of the bizarre post-cranial traits that Caperea does. So I think it is quite likely that Caperea is indeed a relative of cetotheres, but I'm just not quite convinced it's deeply nested within the group.
