Description Rhodok shieldwalls are still the best. Swadian knights get stuck in them like they're BEAR traps
ha ha

King Graveth's coat of arms is a bear.
I'm tired.

Still can't find a one handed military cleaver. I got a sweet balanced soldier's cleaver but it's not the same. Want two scallops in it.

Absolutely loving this. It conveys a great feeling of violence. The sergeant looks extremely menacing, i can imagine he didnt hesitate after raising that hammer. Story time! I can remember vividly the day i witnessed the power of the Rhodok sergeants. It was mid-day and i was leading a war party as a rhodok lord deep into Swadian territory. My greed for loot and glory had led me to vanquish many smaller swadian lords, so you can imagine i was feeling confident. As i had been very selective in my battles previously, my army had been hand-raised into a force of elites, comprising almost entirely of sergeants and sharpshooters. I had about 120 total, approximately half of which were ranged units. Then, as if to remind me of my mortality, my army came upon the full advance of the swadian forces, led by King Harlaus personally. I cannot remember who exactly accompanied him, but my loot-laden army of greedy elite fat bastards was too slow to evade, and we were forced to stand and fight an army almost five times our size. So be it, i said, readying my force to meet the swadian onslaught. They came upon us with utter prejudice, knights first, infantry later, and then archers. I found a hill and set my men into an impenetrable shield wall while my sharpshooters ravaged the enemy lines. At the end of the day, the swadians were annihilated and upon the hill stood 20 blood-soaked rhodok sergeants and me, roaring victory. Beware the Rhodoks. Sorry for the long post. Capturing Harlaus makes you rich.

Rhodok men are stone walls, I tried a game using a trained spearman phalanx with a backing of veteran crossbows of course. They weren't too shabby surprisingly enough for pike units. They'd get shot to pieces if my crossbowmen were distracted though. Give these guys tower shields, long heraldic mail, and a full helm, and you have some nearly invincible troops! haha
Thanks for the kind comment and the story, it was a fun read

Never used to play Rhodoks until recently. Fell in love with their playstyle quite quickly

yeah, even their lousy troops are pretty good in formation!

The only negative thing I can say about Rhodoks is that playing with them is a bit repetitive.
Find a hill -> position your troops on top -> play (elected) king of the hill until everyone else is dead.
Rinse and repeat

aah but isn't that warband in general?

Better than just having the Swadian knights run down anything in your path lol

I've only played the base game, so I'm not sure how warband changes things, but at least other armies seem to work better with mobile tactics, be it because of cavalry, or poor ranged units. Which makes things slightly more interesting, because you have to adjust to the terrain, e.g. rivers, bridges, buildings etc. With Rhodoks it seemed best to just wait at the edge of the map, shooting over obstacles from a hill.

Though an interesting variant of this strategy is to leave your army behind, riding circles around the enemies and trying to split their army, so that only a few break of towards your hill at a time, while the others waste their time and ammo on you.

Absolutely, and they're equipped to deal with anything from archers to heavy cavalry!

Excited for bannerlord too? It seens that it will have more story and even lore...But I hope is not too much the focus as it was in With Fire and sword.

Haven't had the opportunity to play With Fire and Sword yet, but I feel like a little story could go a long way.

Its just that it kind of forces you to make choices to the story and could end up f*ck up everyting and can't continue it later. Then the tournaments were removed so get money and renown was a lot harder AND there is a limit of units that you can recruit if you are not on a faction, I couldn't remember the name of any of the "lords" because they were too long a similar(this never happend me on warband) and there is tons of stuff that made me keep that game many times. Witch is a shame because I actually like that period warfare.

For a very long time, I have been a big fan of your work, but unfortunately I have neglected to comment as such until now. Mount & Blade, I have to agree that the Rhodok aren't just awesome with their shield wall and crossbows, but they are probably my favourite faction as well. You have done wonderful work; I absolutely love the detail as well as a lot of your work in general! The details of the crests as well as the armour styles is definitely awesome!

Thanks dude! I'm glad you took the time to comment.

Can't beat Rhodok full helms and heraldic mail, and bascinet helmets of course!
