Description

Eadward the 5th of the House of Aethelricings/Tylut, is the current reigning King of the Kingdom of Lutland of Alba and one of its most ambitious. Ascending the throne merely a year ago in 1678 AA at the age of just 19 after the sudden death of his father, Eadward looks well placed to last many years upon the throne of the largest Kingdom in all of Alba. Eadward, for his part, thanks to the efforts of his late father, King William the 3rd, has inherited a strong position. Raydas influence has now been all but expelled from the Kingdom, the Kingdom has prospered under competent governance and the treasury I full, his family enjoys the support of many of the most important nobles, he is surrounded by loyal and highly capable advisors and his marriage to Roswitha, granddaughter of the Hohernakonig of the Rhinbyrg Empire, Fredrick the 4th, has secured a powerful alliance with one of the major powers of the mainland. Eadward is well placed to push the House of Tylut’s long-held ambition of uniting the isle of Alba under them further than any of his precursors in a long time. Eadward despite his young age, already shows many signs of being a great King, he is well-learned and fit, and he has shown that he can both make good decisions and accept council. He has proven to be a competent fighter and has the makings of a good military commander, and yet also shows that he is a skilled diplomat and seems to care for his subjects. Though arranged by his father, his marriage to Roswitha shows many signs of being one of those rare times when such arrangements lead to a genuine love between husband and wife and it is believed that soon she will bear a child, securing the dynasty’s future. But despite all these advantages however, Eadward still faces many challenges. To the North the young King Hrothwulf the 1st of Rutland is uniting the Northern Lutons under his banner and turning the Kingdom into a potentially serious challenge to Eadward, whilst Norjord has united under a new High Jarl, Bjorn Ulfrikung, and there is talk that he has already united the Jarls and may soon seek to lead them on a great raid, an event Alba more than once has faced. To the South, the final Southern Lutonic Kingdom not under the Tylut’s, Kant, still retains its independence and wealth, and conspires with Raydas to weaken Lutland, whilst the Kingdom of Camud and iitsrenowned Knights might be at peace both still well remember that both fought against each other when Raydas sought to maintain its influence on the Kingdom. To the West, the United Marches have long since become effectively independent, the duchies pay no heed to their rightful sovereign and have under them some of the most experienced armies in the isles, nearby the Verdonian and Cymotir Kingdoms stir, peace has been maintained, but for how long non can say. The Kingdom of Kailand has long since broken from the treaty that Eadward Longbrand of Lutland forced upon them 300 years ago, making the Kings of Lutland protectors of Kailand. Beyond the various kingdoms of the Geiltix squabble among themselves, Lutland long having been unable to maintain control in the far west of the Island. Despite all these challenges, many see this as an  opportunity, Lutland at long last finds itself in a position and power that it hasn’t wielded since the great reigns of Harold the Great and Eadward Longbrand, and Eadward seems fit to take advantage of this.

So new character and the first of our coloured in ones, we will be coloring the old ones soon as well. The first illustration of a Luton as well, we went with English in 1350 but with more Anglo Saxon influence.
