Summary of the album Operation Charlemagne
1943. France and Great Britain are at war. Some volunteers left France to fight the Laval government from England. That's what Lieutenant Leo Bergier did. The latter receives a new mission order from the Air Commodore. With his plane, he must fly over the shipyards of Saint-Nazaire to take a picture of a submarine that seems to have torpedo hulls on its hull, in order to shoot vertically. Never seen ! To protect Bergier, Captain Mendès France, Squadron 107, volunteered. Jules accompanies Leo for this mission. French planes spot Leo's plane. The fight begins and Mendes-France intervenes to help his comrade. The fight is tough. But the clouds change the flight plan of Bergier, he must fly lower. The DCA shoots them and the plane is hit. Bergier has no choice but a crash landing to try to save the pictures taken and bring them back to London. In the crash, Jules is dead and Leo is injured. He gives up his plane by loading the photos ...
