I cried so much when this happened... He was one of my favourite and doesn't matter how many times I see this scene I cry.
What bothers me is that he died because a lot of people thought Jerome and John looks too similar... On top of that Jerome lost one of his ears why the hell it wasn't enough difference?! I know that this happened after John already died but come on...

When I first watched this scene I cried. John has been my favorite dog in the series since I watched it for the first time 4 years ago,so see him die made me sad xd

John fought hard even when he used the last of his strength to throw the stick that was impaled in his side. I really hate hougen but yet the breed of dog he is are beautiful(to me at least).
John was my favorite character I kind of wish he would have been in more episodes(anime)but I have a second favorite character to cover that and that is Jerome.
