Las cortinas se movían con el viento mientras la Luna iluminaba la noche. Un caparazón verde entró lentamente por la ventana. El escarabajo se detuvo, olfateó y revoloteó hasta una mesa en la que estaba una solitaria vela encendida. El escarabajo la observó como todas las noches lo hacía. “Ojalá yo reluciera tanto como esa vela encendida” pensaba siempre. En sus grandes ojos podía verse reflejada la llama, que se movía tristemente con la brisa. La Luna siguió iluminando la noche, observando al escarabajo junto a la vela, quién no se daba cuenta que bajo la llama, su caparazón relucía.

The curtains moved with the wind as the moon lit the night. A green shell appeared and climbed slowly through the window. The beetle stopped, sniffed and fluttered towards a table, on which a solitary lit candle could be found. The beetle stared at it, as he did every night. "I wish I could shine as much as that candle" he always thought. Its large eyes reflected the flame, while it moved sadly with the breeze.
