"Alma said we weren't supposed to go outside without an adult!"

Nozama paused, then turned to look at Minnow, a sheepish grin spreading over their face. "Okay, alright. You got me," she chuckled, shaking her head. She'd been caught in the act while she was trying to sneak out. "I just wish we could still go out n play like usual, yknow? An' I wish I could drag you with me. You need to go an' do somethin' that isn't just sleepin', you know!"

"I know, yeah," Minnow said, expression barely changing besides a single raised eyebrow. "You tell me like, all the time, I need to get off my big lazy butt! 'Minnow, let's go hiking,' and 'Minnow, get up and play house with me!'" they teased, pacing a little closer until they could nudge her with their shoulder. "You know I'm not really one for activities, but if you can get an adult to go out with you I'll come out with you and we can play a fun game together."

Nozama scuffed the ground with their paws, gazing down before saying, "Actually, I wanted to go out on my own. Just for a little while! I have something to do and I need to keep it a secret for now, but if it makes you feel better, I will find an adult to take me."

"Oh... okay," Minnow said, trying to mask their disappointment with a small, cheerful smile. "I'll find something else to do while you're gone. I'll probably just find a cozy spot to nap."

"Why don't you read or color instead?" Nozama asked with a sigh, tilting her head. "I know you like to color and I don't wanna leave you to just nap the day away. And I promise I'll come back soon, it won't take me too long to do what I need to! Then we can go play tag or somethin."

"I'll see what I can come up with to do," Minnow said noncommitally, scratching behind their ear with one claw.

"You'll have to let me know what sorta fun stuff you came up," Nozama teased lightly, punching Minnow's shoulder with a gently closed fist. "Then we can do some of it together later! I'm gonna go see if I can get Alma to find me somebody to go out with now, but I'll be back real soon, okie-dokie?"

Minnow shrugged, the ends of their mouth quirked up in a smile. "Yeah, okay. Have fun out there!"

They waved at Nozama's back as she left, and their smile fell as she rounded a corner, dropping their clawed hand back to the floor. They heaved a sigh, beginning to lope back to their shared room to cozy up into their warm blankets and take a nice, comfy nap. It's not like I really wanted to go outside anyway, they told themself. A nap is gonna feel way better than being dragged around town. .... I hope Nozama has fun and stays safe out there, though.
