I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to draw the Seagang this month. I decided to draw them in their human-ish versions.

Touching hands is a common and meaningful gesture to Marevians. It’s significant to them because it’s their way of saying that they acknowledge your presence, they care about you, and that you share the life of the world with them. After all, Marevi (as well as Botania) cares very deeply about the world and the life it supports.

Hand touching is also a customary Marevian greeting. When Marevians see each other, they say hello by holding out their hands and looking kindly in the other’s direction. The other person responds by touching their hands.

The hand touches can range from light finger taps to full-on hand holding. Light finger taps are more likely to be done by people who just met, although it’s also casually done by people who share a close bond. Hand holding and pressing palms against each other are more likely done by close friends and lovers.

Groups of Marevians put their arms in and let their hands touch to signify their friendship and show that they care about each other. But, they don’t raise them in the air after. It’s not that team hand stack thing.
