I love this picture!
For some obscure reason, I have this weird obsession with staircases and/or fire escapes...it's really weird.
Great shot though!

Developers mostly care about maximum profit, occasionally they will save a historic building for p.r. purposes.
In my town, they win some, and they lose some because there is a "tear down everything old and build something more modern" mentality among some people. An old limestone school, the oldest one in the state of Wisconsin was saved and it's now a historical museum. The old high school will be turned into senior condos. At one time, some people wanted the former torn down and turned into a parking lot.
Developers are going to destroy Bay Meadows Racetrack for a subdivision, and they bought Hollywood Park a year ago. The track gets 2 more years to get slots in. If it doesn't, that track will be torn down too. What shame.

lol the movie was like a haunted house thing..it was dumb we never finished it..i was too occupied admiring the architecture..lol I love letchworth..but unfortunately developers are going to be tearing down all the builds to develop 500 homes for people 50 and older..the only building thety were going to save was Stewart hall..but that tradgically burned due to arson last december...sad..so i thin they might have abandoned their plans to restore Stewart hall as their club house...i hope they reconstruct it..or restore one of the other amazing buildings..the developers company is Encore haverstraw..btw..
no prob with the fav..lol..if u get a chance check out my gallery...thanx

Originally I had heard that they were doing the demo in February, but I was up there a few weeks ago and they hadn't started yet. Hopefully they hold out a few more weeks cause I want to get back up there. I heard that they were still going to try to save Stewart Hall, but I don't see how they could.... the fire got so hot it melted the I-beams.

Agrees with xoxlostsoulxox. What is it about humans and abandoned places? Is is fear we could end up like this place?
