I have been trying to get a photo of a Western Kingbird that has a nest near by.  Crazy thing is tormenting me!  Comes into the birdbaths, the fruit platform, and the hummingbird station in the middle of the yard.  But never when the camera is handy.

I have that issue too. Haha it's like the birds know when you have your camera with you. It is a running joke with me that if I have my camera along I will not see any birds but if I leave my camera at home I will see all kinds of cool birds and wildlife. LOL it seems to always hold true.

Nice shot, I have never seen one of them before. Are they common along the east coast?

They aren't super common. They are a type of flycatcher so they like open fields and marsh land. So it is not one that comes into your typical backyard feeders.

Yeah I didn't know what it was, I just knew I had never seen one before. I had to ask some friends what it was. LOL That is how most of my birding hikes go. LOL

I haven't seen too many different types of birds. I usually get confused on the many types of sparrows that are out there.

I get confused on the sparrows too. All I know are which ones are the house sparrows.

I found out we have these sparrows here called Harris's Sparrows. I can't help but think of Harris's Hawks every time I see one because of the name.

Oh cool, I never heard of Harris's sparrows before. That would make it easier to remember them.

They have a dark patch of feathers around their neck. I haven't been able to forget them yet
