why did you put quotations around expression?

This is not a quotation,but a scare quote or shudder quote^^ i only wanted to place within inverted commas the word in order to show the figurative nature of the word expression because the owl didn't actually make that facial expression. The feathers around his face give the impression he makes that facial expression so everytime i want to signal that a term is being used in a nonstandard,ironic,metaphorical or in another special sense i put scare quotes around words.
