Inktober 2023, Day 15- Dagger

About halfway through Inktober now. Thought I’d submit my latest entry. This is a kris/keris dagger, which looks cool and has striations along the blade that I thought would be cool to try making with brush pens. I don’t have much to say about it other than I don’t much care for it. I was trying to experiment a little with adding texture with a towel, but it ended making it a big dark, inky mess, and in the process of trying to cover things up, I ended up over correcting a lot of things. So, idk. I don’t really like it, but it was a good experience in what not to do, and to trust my gut instincts. If a drawing starts going south and I find myself constantly correcting things to make it work, it’s usually a clear indicator that the piece is unsalvageable. I find myself occasionally falling into the trap that I can fix something if I keep working at it, but it’s almost never true. And I gotta keep reminding myself that I have plenty of art supplies and that there’s no shame in starting over. I just didn’t have the time or patience today. XP

Not that I hate everything about it. I like the little details along the blade and hilt, and the fact I’m 99% sure I used this weapon in one of the Castlevania games, so there is a nice/strange sort of nostalgia to it. It’s mostly the too dark background that irks me.
