I got the idea from The Golden Compass where everyone's soul takes phyical form as an animal (daemons) and these were what I came up with for the DC boys.
Conan - Fox (duh)
Kaito - Mongoose (they fight snakes)
Heiji - African Wild Dog(just... seemed like him, a wild dog. Felt right)

I had an RP like this  We had different parings though  for the animals I mean. I like your pairings though as well, and the Mongoose analogy to Snake is very clever  

But yes I really like all of your choices  

ours were like this( Though we hadn't come up for daemons for Heiji and Kazuha yet ):

I really like this drawing, it's so cute! I remember watching the film of the Golden Compass, though reading would be a good help in understanding it 'cos I didn't read and I couldn't really understand what was going on in the film. The African Wild Dog is drawn really well in this. The other animals are good as well. Great work!

Thank you ^_^ I like African Wild Dogs, though they were being jerks, the lot of them, when I was trying to take their pictures at the zoo.
The book is... a little darker, but it does explain a lot that the movie wasn't willing to touch - and yet still the church turned that movie out to be something horrible. They should attack those thousands of others that make the 'church' the bad guy instead of the obviously fiction story that clearly does not take place in our world
Anyway sorry about that. There are three books. I personally like the second because we have a switch in main character to a young boy who I find more associate. They're good, you should try them.
