Description Okay, I saw a video on youtube for something like this (though not Kid) and I went out that day to buy a crocheting needle and the other things I needed.
- I had no idea how to crochet before now.

I completely winged it, which is why his body was accidently too long - the hat I made as a separate piece and it's removable

and yeah.. not the best thing out there, but it was my first time and I love my Kid doll!
It's about a foot tall, I think... maybe just a little bigger

TWO DAYS with NO SLEEP! This doll took me, in total, around 80+ hours to make. I don't know if that means I'm slow or not, but it was not easy

EDIT: I made the buttons for his coat ^^

1 it is a crochet hook
2 can you tell me were you got the pattern from?
3 you've gotten better when you got to the gin doll

I didn't get a pattern... I honestly just wing all my dolls. I do the basics for the head and then just guess pretty much. I dont count or use markers either
And thank you. I'm making a Kyuubi (nine tailed fox) one right now and I'm soooo happy with it (it's just missing the rest of it's tails)
Sorry I couldn't help you...

Wow, not bad for a first attempt. ^^ Better than when I moved on from making really long chains to trying to make hats... Yeah... I'm better when following a pattern than just listening to my sister give vague instructions.

Though it also helps when you're using real yarn and not some weird ribbon stuff you're sister's making you try out...

Hey. Been a while since I heard from you.
Thank you. I've made a few after and... for some reason.. I can't get the perportions the same
Did find out I didn't pull tight enough on this one and everything's rather loose, but it's stayed together and that's a plus

I .. still can't read patterns

XD Yeah, I'm a forgetful dork, I forget about the people that I like and feel like I should watch but haven't yet. I'm also a good deal of other things. I'm one of those likable stubborn idiots who doesn't get why they're likable. Also an actress, and I was voted class clown somehow even though I didn't think I'd be memorable. And I really wish I knew where my Kyo hat ran off to. I've only got two pictures of me in that hat. Mmm, also tired. And I ramble.

That happens sometimes. Especially if you accidentally switch hooks in the middle. I've done it.

I've had stuff fall apart before, cut the ends too close. Yeah, not good.

They're easy enough to read if you've got a good one and can remember what the stitches are. Also helps if you stick to your area. XD Like, American crocheters stick to American patterns and British crocheters stick to British patterns. The names change.

Heh. I've never been popular enough to win class anything And I'd really like to know how to crochet a hat. I've only knit them and, with all the crocheting.. I've forgotten how to knit now I also only know the basic stitch, the one I use to make the dolls. I know there are ways to spred them out and make them bigger but I don't know how to do them.

I never knew the names changed XD couldbe beacuse I've only ever looked at like two patterns and gave up trying to go with the system. I don't think I have the patience for it. I like watching TV and just.. making them based on look It's worked so far, but that could also be why I can't make hats.

Well, it's not like I expected to be voted anything. Not to mention the fact that I expected one of my best friends to be voted class clown. Heh. The male class clown was someone I had never seen before too. XD

I'd teach you how to make one, but it's kinda hard for me to teach people. I'm not all that skilled myself.

Yeah, like a single crochet being a double crochet and stuff like that. It makes me freak out sometimes because I'm not always sure that the pattern I'm using is actually from the US.

I know! I takes forever! I'm very slow too, because I can't hold the neddle the way you're supposed to.
I'm making more though
How'd your wolf come out?

SnakeBlue In reply to Lostinthedreams [2011-07-13 12:50:29 +0000 UTC]

it's not easy to follow the so called correct methods.
(I'm left-handed which makes knitting a nightmare.)
she's rather rotund actually, I didn't realize the material I was making would stretch so much.
(never taken a picture of her though.)

Lostinthedreams In reply to SnakeBlue [2011-07-13 21:52:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, I can't even follow the amount of stitches or rows or anything (I only put it in one loop and I think the right way is to put it in two...)
I was thankfully born right handed or my brain probably couldn't take trying to figure it all out backwards
And you should take a picutre of it ^^
It's art and you made me want to see it now
- mine didn't really streach, so I didn't have that problem

SnakeBlue In reply to Lostinthedreams [2011-07-14 11:08:48 +0000 UTC]

it does help to follow some of the rules...
I was born right-handed, I've been doing things backwards ever since I decided to copy my brother's left-handedness.
(I literally reverse how I hold the needles for knitting though, I somehow manage to knit right-handed left-handedly. (don't ask me to explain, I don't understand it myself.)
I may just. still embarrassed by her wings - stupid little silver things - but I've been thinking I should maybe share her with the internet.
yours is crochet, that kind of material shouldn't stretch too much.

Lostinthedreams In reply to SnakeBlue [2011-07-14 20:15:21 +0000 UTC]

Eh, rules are for people who aren't me
and yep, I don't understand
If you post it, please tell me because I do want to see it ^_^
- and you're still using yarn for croheting, and my holes were big in places, so it did strech a little, but not much

SnakeBlue In reply to Lostinthedreams [2011-07-15 12:36:57 +0000 UTC]

*laughs* you don't need no rules huh?
my mom tried to explain to me once - what I was doing - but it made about as much sense as what I said.
sure, I took a picture, but I forgot my memory card upstairs today. (when I remember to bring it down I'll almost certainly post it and let you know.)
it's the technique as much as the yarn that determines how stretchy a material is when you finish. (I've never met a crocheted item that was particularly stretchy.)

Lostinthedreams In reply to SnakeBlue [2011-07-17 01:54:56 +0000 UTC]

Nope. Who needs rules
But no, if it were expalined in front of me, maybe I'd get it, but seeing it on the computer just doesn't cut it.
And I do hope to see the picture when you get the time. I've Knitted hats and a scarf before, but never a creature. I didn't even know it was possible (I cheat though. I use the Knifty Knitter)
Crocheting though, you kind of have to do that with the hook.
*P.S. I made a Hakuba doll now He needs his coat and...something eles I need to add on *not giving him a hat cause I like how his hair came out* But I'll post it when I finish as well ^_^

I tend to...
even right in front of me the explanation made no sense.
only things I've done are a few random squares and the critter. (I was extremely determined though, and I had a regular stuffed animal to use as a base.)
yup, I know. (only thing I ever manage to use those for is hiding the loose ends on my socks.)
*laughs* I'm glad you're having fun.

I know, right? It was probably a random stroke of luck and now I'm gonna make another one and it's not going to look anywhere near as good -_-

XD Aren't the next ones always different? It'd take A LOT of practice to get them all mostly the same. ^-^ And you're welcome. ^-^
