Description
Back when Claypool Comics was still in existance, I had the honor of pencilling several ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK stories. It was a privilege to work with great comic veterans on that comic series--great writers like Richard Howell and Janet Hetherington, and great inkers like Bob McLeod and Bob Wiacek! To be honest, I kind of miss drawing Elvira sometimes, so it's nice that I had the chance to do this pencil drawing as a FREE BONUS SKETCH for someone who bought my sketchbook! Hope you enjoy it.

I've been secretly visiting this drawing ever since it was uploaded. You made miss Peterson look more vampish than Vampirella. It is awesome!
BTW, once I had the guts to attempt your "Batgirl: A Step-by-step Drawing" over at PJ. But it already killed me in the first stage. I eventually and quickly gave up.

Fantastic job, Mr. Wallace! Elvira is one of the most sexiest babes in the comic book world and you managed to draw her superbly! Way to go!

What kind of paper are you using? And what about the graphite? Are you using a mechanical pencil, and what hardness of lead?

On the sketches I actually used some paper I don't really like very much. It's a Strathmore 300 Series "smooth" Bristol board. I prefer Bristol with a little more tooth, and I definately like a 400 or 500 series Bristol better than 300. I don't want to say the 300 series is crap, but I don't think I'll ever experiment with it again. I'm honestly not very happy with the results.
The pencil I'm using is an HB drawing pencil, and isn't a lead holder or mechanical pencil. I'm not good with mechanical pencils, as I always break the lead.

Haha. And I LOVE my mechanical pencils. LOL! I'm lazy and can't stand sharpening them all the time. LOL! But I've got several .3mm and .5mm pencils with varying hardnesses of lead.
And yes, I agree about the paper. I also like a little bit more tooth. But the cheaper papers tend to shred more easily and doesn't absorb as much graphite. I've found that out the hard way. LOL!
But I thought I would use some smooth for some inking and see if I like it at least for that. I've got a pad of it and I hate wasting paper, especially when it's so expensive!! Even if it sucks, I try to find a use for it.
