It's rare that I post work-in-progress sketch work on DA, but I hope you will like this doodle of the Violator. I always enjoy drawing monsters--particularly monsters with big mouths and teeth. When Violator showed up as a sketch topic for the PencilJack Weekly Sketch Group, I decided to participate. Breaking out some Pitt Artist's Pens and a sheet of plain white copy paper, I sat down and began to sketch Spawn's nemesis. I honestly don't know where I want to go with the image though, so I sat it aside. Maybe I'll finish this someday, but for now it's one for for my studio "sketch junk" box. Maybe I'll draw his right arm strangling Spawn, or perhaps I'll draw Violator pouring himself a dainty cup of Earl Grey. Who knows?
I don't draw SPAWN characters all that often, so I hope you enjoy my take on the character. I ditched the bug-eye look because I never liked it, and I think the blank, triangular eyes add more menace to his face. They certainly contrast better with the spotted black shadows at any rate.

i vote for the other pouring tea. or something just as totally random like holding a piece of fried chicken, pie, or even petting a little kitty...... head. oh ok. maybe not the kitty head. that would be a bit too much.

Maybe I can show him holding a SPAWN comic, and then add in a balloon that says something like: "Hey?!! @#%$! That's NOT how it happened!!??

I saw the SPAWN movie back in the mid-90s, and I know the Violator was in it, but I don't remember if he was shown in demon form or not? Do you recall?

The last issue of SPAWN I saw was issue #12. I think the only time I saw the Violator was in issue #4. He seemed like a pretty cool visual back then.

Thanks! I have had opportunity to draw him once or twice, but not in about a decade and a half. I remembered his insect-like eyes, but opted to simplify them.

Thanks, Danny. I haven't looked at a SPAWN comic in 20 years, but I do like drawing monsters and all things gruesome. This was a nice chance to sketch something different, but I kind of lost interest in it...at least for now.
