next: in a galaxy far far away.

im happy with this page. except for the speech bubbles and the last pannel. i really like the first pannel though. if i ever redo this page, im keeping it. and i can tell, i threw anatomy out the window. i really hated doing this orange horse, the color changed in each pannel. oh well, he wont show up much anymore, hes not a main character. this is probably going to be the last page for a while, until i catch up with my list of things to do.

The Phantom Mare(ess)!
The Colt Wars!
Revenge of the Wolf!
A New Foal!
The Stallion Strikes Back!
Return of the Canine!

You were begging for that, writing in a galaxy far far away. What I'm saying is, I was provoked.
If I just inspired a dual-trilogy epic movie series, I want royalties, ok?
For context, I wrote a couple more Tunajuice style parodies last week. I can't help it.
Ooh! Ooh! The Phantom Salmon! The Carp Wars! Revenge of the Sunfish! I... yeah... um.

It reformated when I uploaded, so it doesn't make sense unless you already know the songs.
I made a new version of your user icon. It blinks. Are you interested?

In that case maybe I should make it more different. Aha, the eyes could flash red, and then blink!

It's Late Middle English, yeah. Variable word order, unsettled spelling, and the poet was a little careless. I loved it myself, though the sloppy meter got on my nerves.
It's funny- being familiar with Middle English was a real help understanding German, I'm suprised that that doesn't work in reverse.

It's not to everyone's taste is all. And these things take practice. I'd lend you my Canterbury Tales, but I've lost it someplace. My copy sucked, anyway. Interliniar translation, rather than facing page. Facing page is always better.

what is it about?

Meyrocu In reply to louli9559 [2010-07-06 18:58:37 +0000 UTC]

It's what Chaucer wrote. It's about a crowd of pilgrem on there way to Cantarbury, and they agree that they will each tell two stories, one on the way to, and one on the way back. Whoever tells the best story buy every one supper at the inn they met in. So they each have a story, and some tell bawdy ones, and some tell pious ones, and some tell epics and some tell romances.

it sounds really intersting.

Meyrocu In reply to louli9559 [2010-07-06 19:15:51 +0000 UTC]

It wasn't half bad. I'm glad my copy was lost, though- gives me an excuse to get a better one, a facing-page one. With interliniar, it's very hard to tune out just the Middle or just the Modern English, so I'd end up reading each line twice. Drove me crazy.

well, when you do get a new copy, can i borrow it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Meyrocu In reply to louli9559 [2010-07-06 19:36:31 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely.
I remember when I picked up a German-language copy of the Nibelungenlied, you said you'd like to borrow it sometime. You're welcome to that too. I've read the story in English so many times I can figure out where the story is at within a couple stanzas when I open it at random, but I just don't have the vocabulary. Maybe we can read it together sometime, so you can help me with that. Bewarned- it's an awesome story, but the word order is as roundabout as the Robyn Hode link I sent.
