Time to try something newI wanted to create a history style portrait ever since and just found this wonderful and perfectly suitable reference by EyesInTheDark666 :
So I studied a lot of paintings from 18th century masters like Angelika Kauffmann and tried to create something similar. To achieve the traditional oil painting look I used this very useful brushes by Deharme only: Photoshop Brushes / Deharme OIL SET (Photoshop CC)
If I had core I'd ask for critique as I'm very curious what you think about it

I feel you have done an excellent job of capturing the exact likeness and personality of the your reference. It definitely has the feel of a historical period piece. It would be very difficult for me to distinguish this from a traditional fine art piece because of the excellent skill in the use of your digital brushes. Your study of the masters definitely paid off in your creation of this portrait.
The background is very complimentary to the figure and brings it up close and personal to the viewer.
The hand on the left side is an excellent lead into painting and directs the eye directly to the woman and causes the viewer to examine all the details more closely.
The details in this are astounding.
The textures are so well done I can feel the smoothness and shine of the pearls, the fragile petals of the rose,the silky feel of her dress and individual strands of the hair.

This is absolutely beautiful! I love the fact that all the textures look different, the hair actually looks like hair and that cloth looks like you put in a lot of effort! Is it actually hand-painted?? *o*
I unfortunately am not advanced enough to give very thorough critique, there is only two possible things that I notice; the shadow along the left side of the bridge of the nose goes a teeeny bit too far to the middle; it makes the nose look a little asymmetric. (I hope that was understandable)
Another thing that caught my eye is the necklace; to my eye it doesn't look like it's resting on the shoulders but rather floating a little in the air.
But that's all I'm able to say (and honestly I might be wrong), otherwise this is really well executed! Great job!

And I think youre absolutely right with your points. When I've been staring on my art for too long I don't even recognize floating necklaces anymore
Concerning the cloth - I was really astonished how easy that was - I used only 2 layers, one with the cloth and one with the pattern on top of it. The pattern was not too hard to do as it's a little uneven by reference. I just needed to make sure the folded parts are distorted, a bit of shading in the folds and highlights on top and voilà
