The light reflections on her body are amazing. I've also never seen a giant mermaid from the perspective of an insect before. That's really creative.

This is so nicely detailed! I love the reflective fish scales and the ripples in the water.

This is so sweet and lovely! I loved seeing all the process and I also love the contrast between the blue in the environment and the red parts. The effect on the scales is so beautifully done too!

Well done. Maybe the caustics are tad too small but it's difficult to say. The effect on her hair makes it appropriately "fishy" and not normal, good job, maybe the tail itself could have been too a bit out of focus. That was quite quick, congrats!

Thanks I have also the impression of getting faster
Hmm the more often I see it (without working on it) the more flaws it gets.. but I need to move on to the next piece so be it as it is

Thank you for your feedback, always appreciated
Concerning the hair, tbh I had quite a hard time doing it so I finally decided to leave it as it is and let her have some kind of jellyfish "hair" with a few tentacles Maybe it could be a little more transparent..
Oh and yes this was initially planned as a self portrait of me fishing out insects from the pool (because thats what I always do), but then I rather went to a fantasy character

Wet hair and submerged hair are both really tough subjects, I can imagine having them both in the same image is not an easy challenge I have trouble with just normal hair as it is ^^'
Oooh so it's kind of a magical self-portrait! I love it even more now!

hehe, well unfortunately she doesn't look like me at all ^^
Yeah hair can be hell.. wet or not I think it took me a year or so to achieve something I found acceptable But I think you will be way faster

Who said portraits need to achieve a physical likeness It can very well portray your spirit, at least that's how I see it!
I don't really know about that, what I've done until now is pretty much just copying photographs... I've yet to be able to create something that doesn't exist and pull that off somehow! That's what I like a lot in your work ^^

Honestly I just feel like I'm only getting better at copying images... I'll become a photoshop of my own I guess, copy-pasting stuff from different photos to make a new one :') there's people like Even Amundsen who never use reference while they work and learn all they need from doing studies, which I simultaneously admire deeply and don't understand at all

Aaaagh I'm so sorry for being so damn slow at replying :')
But yeas it gives some hope when you find those people who you can see the improvement over time! Sadly I think that quite many start deleting their older work as they get better, luckily some of those gems still exist though ^^

Yeah, you are right, such galleries are not seen very often - I did not even dare to upload anything until I came to a certain level But I admire people who do
