I love the raw energy in this picture! It's your best yet deffinately. I would say if you want to get a more realistic effect, try drawing more from real references of horses; photos, and curve your lines so they shape the image. The pose is great. So is the motion. To help keep from getting too frustrated, draw a shade slowly and look at the techniques of other artists. And brakes are good too give your brain a rest. (Mine hurts when I draw XD)
I do these things when I draw people to help from getting stuck, but I've never done horses. So, that's the best advice I could give you from a limited perspective. Hope it helps.

Maybe not your best horse drawing, but it's a lot better than i could do!!! It still looks great. The only thing i would say is to maybe make the shadows a little smoother. And I'm glad you're brave enough to draw cougars!!!
