This made me so sad when I fist read it. I seriously wanted to punch Excalibur. I mean, Shinigami-sama died!! Have a little compassion! Especially to his son of all people!

Man, Excalibur is a total idiot. I wanted to like slap him in the face 80 times more in the last chapter than in all of his other chapters. Poor Kid........ I was crying so much when Kid found out........ then I wanted a machine gun to kill Excalibur. And besides, fanfics were MADE to tie up loose ends in your own way! Or create a new situation, or whatever. You get the gist of it, and if you do not, read some Soul Eater fanfics please and thank you. so, yeah, all that good stuff........

I like Excalibur but I think that the way this was handled was quite disapointing. It was really glossed over, I don't think Kid or Shinigami-sama's death got the attention in deserved in the last chapter, it was suger coated with humour. I thought we would get, I don't know, something more serious I guess.

Shinigami sama should have gotten a funeral and a soul reaping ceremony. Yknow lifting his soul from around the city.
I like that the last chapter was funny. Made me less sad about it but i wish they would have had more of a tribute to the characters who died

That would have been really interesting, it would have been great to see them lift his soul from the city and the effects of it. (And would Kid have to learn to do the same or are they safe now Asura is sealed away?)
Man that would have been good.. There are a lot of questions like that left unanswered!
Also Liz and Patty, did they get a power upgrade, they are the new shinigami's weapons now so... and why is soul the last death scythe, will the school no longer be training weapons and meisters or just that no one will be a death scythe now that they are on 'good terms' with the witches so no more witches souls are used..?
It's not that I didn't like the humour - I love Soul Eater humour, I just wanted both I guess, closure and the serious stuff and then the humour as well. I guess I just had too high expectations. I imagine the reason why he made it light hearted was too make the last chapter fun for that reason. but yeh, a tribute would have been good.
I also wanted more from Medusa, I know she dies but part of me always thought she would be back and we would find out what her motives really were all about.
And what IS Excalibur. We will never know.......

Well i guess either that, or Soul became Kids weapon, because the grim reapers weapon is a scythe and Soul is the only one, Also the point is that Lord Death has the most powerful weapon and Makas goal from the start was to make a weapon stronger than her father to become the new Death Scythe.
No i don't think Kid will have to seal his soul... since Asura was sealed by the madness on the moon. I just really wanted a funeral ceremony for Lord Death and like a little flashback tribute for Mifune, Justin, Crona and anyone else i've forgotten...
Well i guess since Kid put all his trust in the witches to help them on the moon he decided that students of shibusen dont have to collect witch souls anymore but just get the training that the acadamy provides :3 and Soul's the last death scythe because he was the last one to be turned into one before Kid made that desicion.
I agree COMPLETELY. I love the humour but i wish that they had been more serious with the last chapter. Or he could have had a serious tying up loose ends chapter THEN the funny final chapter.

But thats true about Maka's goal and everything. I hope we somehow get some of these questions cleared up some time, maybe in Soul Eater NOT ever though that is set before SE.
A flashback and funeral tribute would have been nice for sure, so many cool characters that could have had a mention, even if they were dead lol.
Yeh makes sense, I am glad they stopped the witch soul hunting, but still continue the academy. I mean there is always another big bad around the corner..
