                                                        Chapter 1: The watchful eyes

                Perched high up, i felt at home. I glanced over at Noel, her brown hair waving in the wind, my black-brown hair flapping messily around my head. Her eye is activated, searching with meaning for the akuma sure to appear. My equipment innocence pencil clasped tightly in my hand, warming it, ready for the up-coming battle. My pens were of higher Lvl innocence but they too, were ready.
               We were in a secluded wood behind Noel's house, even though this place was off-limits, people still came here. Though most of them weren't your normal people-people. They were your danger prone, id-love-to-kill-you, akuma people. Noel and my 'job' was to was to kill these akuma with a substance called the 'God Crystal' or innocence, if you prefer. Only five people swam into and out of view, but no akuma. Maybe i should tell you about Noel's cursed eye? Er... maybe not, Noel just signaled me for four akuma.
               I tensed, blood pumping. Noel smiled wickedly. Of course she was ready, she always was. And i needed to be too, even though this was my first time on duty. She mouthed to me 'when there's two left, let em have it. No mercy when it comes to these games.' I nod tensely. Her smile gains a little creepiness as she jumps down to battle. And almost immediately shes immersed with four Lvl 3 akuma, growing out of their human shells.
               As i watched the akuma stared hungrily at her... nasty little smiles spreading across their armored faces. You couldn't really say that they were 'nights in shining armor' more like the Devil's army. Which it really was in fact. I clench and unclench my fists, waiting for the moment where there would only be two of them... Not really dreading and not really excitedly. Just... Anxious. Wouldn't you be too? If you had to fight these monsters for the first time?
