Description The evening was hot. The tiny window open in the corner of the cramped apartment brought in warm wafts of air, and the muffled sounds of the street below.

The telephone rang in the golden brown semi dark.

She reached for it on the third ring.

"Hello, you hook faced bitch."

She smiled in genuine pleasure.

"Hello, fuck face," she replied warmly into the receiver.

"It took me a while to find you this time."

"Indeed it has."

"How long have you been there?"

"Two months. Maybe three."

"How's the apartment?"

"Not bad. Better than the place in Melbourne. More people around."

"That's a real shame, dear. It's going to make it that much harder for me to kill you."

"Be a shame to leave. The land lady's not half bad."

"Indeed."

She lay upon the tangled blankets, staring up at the rafters. A golden bar of the fading sunlight caught the dust motes as she stirred the air with her ankles. A fan ticked its way around in the shadows.

"So how have you been?"

"Feeling better than ever. You?"

"Same here."

"I feel like I could go on like this forever, you know."

"Not forever," his voice was serious on the other end, breathing softly into the mouthpiece. "Never forever. It'll all be over, one of these days."

"Oh, you," she chuckled, letting a soft note of affection creep into her voice.

They were silent for a long time.

"So how long do I have this time?"

"Fifteen minutes before I make my move."

"You know, there are a lot of young children living in this neighborhood. It'd be a shame if any of them got hurt."

"I will take that into consideration. Goodbye, Katya."

"Goodbye, Apollo. Take care of yourself."

"You, too."

The line went dead. She grinned up to the boards of the ceiling, and hung up the phone.

Five minutes later, the suitcase she kept packed at all times was gone from its standing place next to the door.

Ten minutes after that, the apartment had never existed in the first place.

Interesting. I don't really know what to make of it, but I like it. It's a very unique peice.

You write very good flash fiction. There is an eensy weensy typo in the last line...

I like this as a standalone. I can fill in the story myself, or not and just wonder.

Can I plug myself and ask you to check out mine really quick? Read "Target Anxiety" then "Solitaire" if you have time

'Flash fiction'. I've heard that term before, but I'd forgotten it. It fits. I like it.

Ahh! Thank you for pointing it out! *fixes it*

What are you wondering, I wonder?

I'm planning to- thing is, I shouldn't even be on right now, anyway. I have Chinese homework to do... *procrastinates* I will read them when I can honestly sit down and take the time to enjoy them. Without guilt.

I'm glad

No problemo.

What sort of relationship the women had before this.

No, it is fine! I just want some edits!

Y'know, haven't the foggiest.

Would you prefer it if I edited when I read your poems? I tend to lean more towards talking about the meaning... If you'd like me to provide more criticism, say the word.

Mrrr, but I like it!

It's a fun story... I do little excerpts that never reach a real story too~!

Unless this is going to be a real story.

Risk Pool?

Oh! Have you ever heard of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman? My sister recommended it and I love it. :3

It's the only I've read so far, but I have a feeling I'm getting a couple of them for Christmas/Channukah. I really like his style.
