Official poster of my short 2D animated film "Lady Ice".
Lady Ice is based on the fairytale "The Snow Queen". This project started back in 2005 and was released in 2010, BEFORE Frozen was even a pitch. I thank everyone who liked my film as much
This was a personal project that started as my final project for the Animation program at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel and after graduating I kept working on it to finish it alone.
Working on and off (weekends, holidays, etc) it took me about 5 and a half years to complete. This was a combined project of Liron Peer (Me, and I'm a woman btw!) and another guy, who dropped the project at an early stage and therefore all you see here was mostly done by me alone (I did the entire animation in the film).
And no, I do NOT work for Disney or any other large company (I'm a freelancer). I've already tried to apply to Disney via many ways, but they simply didn't want me or didn't have a position to offer me, and life went on.

The drawings are incredible, but the shading is somehow... I don't know, it's kinda off. It looks like it's night, so why are all the characters so bright? You should have made the whole thing darker, with bigger, deeper shadows. And really it's rarely a good idea to add lights with pure white and shadows with black. That's basic and not an interesting lighting. If one of your light sources is fire, you should have at least given some orange tint to your lights and shadows to make it believable. The little orange glow is not nearly enough. I repeat that the drawings are reaaally beautiful, but I don't believe soft-shading is one of you forces.

Other than the typography feedback you already got, i think you need to rework the light source a bit more as well....
I like how the lady turn out, but not the guy and his pet.
The highlights and shadow in current stage is flattening everything making it look less professional.
I think it would be best if the shadow are not so evenly distributed on both sides of the guy's arms and legs, that's what flattens him. Areas near the light should have less shadow intensity. Also, you can add more glow to the fire, and it's not a crime to use some real fire colors from photo as reference, some of the shades on the fire looks too dark on my screen. (it looks like it has black in it)

The composition has strong story telling elements, but overall dynamics and flow is a bit too static, and feels like each elements are in pieces.
Try to overlap some elements, maybe put in her ice crystals on the page to create a movement that ties everything together.
I would also rescale the guy and make him slightly more of a focus, right now he's too weak as the center of the image... you can move the whole background up a bit so you have even more space at the bottom to let his parents be clearer, and his head can overlap the lady's hair just a bit.... it would create a stronger connection between the two.

since i cant write a critique at the top i did notice a few things. . the font for the title isnt that nicely legible and a bit too decorative. . mainly a different type of font treatment. The composition is amazing however i would move the fall 2009 somewhere else since it seems a bit static where it is right now. . other than that its an amazing poster and wonderful storyline
